about lenny cooke

i didn't hear much about lenny cooke but why wasn't he drafted? i heard that he was a pretty good high school player and he was not even picked in the draft at at. a lot of people had him as a first round pick in their mock drafts but he was overlooked and now he has messed up his career. why wasn't he drafted?

I think scouts saw Cooke as a capable bball player, but he wasn't matured enough to be worth a draft pick...

i never heard that sweetney entered last years draft. where did you get this information? when you don't get drafted, you can not go enter another draft some other year. and if sweetney entered last years draft and didn't get picked, he would have lost all eligibility to play for georgetown. but wait, sweetney ended up still playing for georgetown after YOU said he entered the draft last year. how do you explain that.

He never played enough organized ball. All the stories came from his AAU and that ADIDAS camp.(I think) He was good enough but never played in the McDonald's game because of this. He, along with D'Angello Collins, wasn't smart enough to go to college and didn't pass that test thing. He was injured during draft tryouts. After the draft he got cut from the Supersonics, cut from an NBDL team, and won Rookie of the Year in the USBL. Now he's on the Celtics summer league team and in their first game he got a DNP - Coach's Decision. This is what I've heard.

i think cooke fell victim to a few things:

scouts/his agent probably overhyped him and told him he was going to be a 1st round pick and he believed it when he actually was a late 1st/early 2nd pick at best.

picking euros/overseas players is the recent 'in thing' (kinda like how picking high school players was in a few years back) and cooke fell victim to it.

as mentioned in another thread, why not give the guy a chance and let the guy showcase himself. i'd like to see the guy make a nba team. it would make a great story

i heard cook couldn't play in the mcdonalds all american game because he was too old or something, it was on a technicality like that
