"League sources have confirmed that the Boston Celtics today acquired second-year guard Sebastian Telfair and players to be named later from the Portland Trailblazers in exchange for Dan Dickau and the seventh pick in tonight's NBA Draft"

.......Sebastian Telfair and players? Who else? Shit.

Check my edit. It's LaFrentz for Ratliff.

Have fun with his contract

While this entire deal has not yet been confirmed, it seems to make more sense if these players are involved. Raef has four more years on a contract that will pay him $10.9 million, $11.8 million, and $12.7 million each of the next three years.

Meanwhile, Ratliff will make $11.6 million each of the next two years. So I guess this gets the Celtics out from under a big contract. Sort of.

To be honest, the Celtics got ripped off. Telfar is not worth a #7 and Dikau. Marcus Williams is better than Telfair, whom the celtics can get at #7.

They got rid of Lafrentz's assload of a contract, I'd call that a win. :x I hope this is false.

The Celtics need some experience more than young picks right now. (Hell, it's not like Telfair's that experienced or older anyway!)

I'm thinking Telfair might be part of another deal, for Iverson perhaps.

Yeah. I feel you. Weird thing about this is, for me, I had predicted, about a month ago, for Zach Randolph to go to Boston in exchange for Lafrentz.

Danny Ainge was just on the Celtics' Draft Party show. He says he can't comment on if the trade is true, but when they asked him if they were looking at veteran players instead of draft picks, he started talking about how they liked Telfair and were "looking at him." After it, he said "OK, I guess I shouldn't have said that."

And when they asked Doc Rivers if "hypothetically Iverson and Pierce could co-exist on the same team," he said definitely.

I can see Tony Allen or Gerlad Green playing the 2 and Delonte being the 6th man.

Not after the year Delonte had. Allen would probably make for a better 6th man. Gerald is still developing - I can't see him as a starter just yet. Gomes also had a big year, and is up there on the bench.

"Toronto is trying to trade down to 4 or 5 and looking to select Randy Foye."

I hope the Blazers don't do #4 and #7 to Toronto for #1. Not worth it.

That'd work. Definitely. Though Toronto might want #31 instead.

I'm hoping we don't suck in 2008 so it'll be a ~50th pick.

Oh fuck. Viktor Khyrapa is gone to the Bulls with Tyrus Thomas (projected of course) for Aldridge. We shouldn't have given up Viktor either.

There's another deal for the Blazers

Blazers get - #2 pick (LaMarcus :D )

Bulls get - #4 pick (probably Thomas), Viktor Khryapa and future considerations.

I hope that happens :D

Is there any truth of the rumored Iverson to Boston deal? It looks like Boston is trying to make some serious moves to take the East.

The Iverson deal has to wait till July 1 apparently.

Dona - I don't like Viktor, and I hate Tyrus Thomas, so ah :x

wooohooo hopefully we get Gay now.

EDIT: oh come on. Randy Foye? Another point guard? We traded Sebastian Telfair and Theo Ratliff for Randy Foye and Raef Lafrentz?

EDIT again: Okay, so Foye isn't a bad pick, but I don't understand passing up Gay.

There's another proposed deal, us and minny swapping picks.

Which means we could get Roy and they could get Foye, I hope that happens too

You guys will have fun with Raef...he makes a lot of big threes.

But then again, he misses a lot of big layups.

I'm pretty pleased to get Ratliff almost more than Telfair. It helps our D a ton. I wonder if Rat will start or come off the bench behind Perk...?
