This article says he's going to the Magic, but just to confuse everyone the link on the main page reads:
Report: Howard agrees to $28M deal with Pistons
Mon Jul 14, 2003 3:30 pm
ESPN.com quickly fixed the problem so it now reads:
Free agent Howard chooses to play for Magic next
It's a good addition for Orlando because I think they need a pretty good guy on the power forward position.
Mon Jul 14, 2003 3:35 pm
I think they might play Howard at small forward alongside Gooden at power forward.
Mon Jul 14, 2003 5:53 pm
Not a good choice. I was hoping they could sign Keon Clark or kandi. Howard would affect the play of gooden.
Mon Jul 14, 2003 8:03 pm
i hoped that he will go to minnesota...but maybe magic are going with this lineup if they get howard:
c-gooden
pf-howard
sf-giricek
sg-mcgrady
pg-armstrong/vaughn
Mon Jul 14, 2003 8:22 pm
i think the magic will play Juwan at small forward, that is if he signs with them. it is a good addition for the magic as Howard will now be the magic's first option in the post giving guys like Giricek and Mcgrady more room on the outside to create something. also Juwan Howard can rebound and has a nice 18 foot jump shot so he could be the new horace grant in orlando. with the magic signing Howard then what does this mean for Grant Hill? will he ever come back or have orlando given up on him.

I dont think that Gooden can be a Centre just yet, even in the East. With that said, though, i can't really think of any alternative at that position that they can afford just yet. I sense another trade coming up soon.
Please dont quote me on that

I think they're definitely counting on him sitting out the 2003/2004 season. If he can return (I hesitate to say "ever return") it would be icing on the cake, but I think the Magic are basically building their team as though he will not be back. Whatever happens, they'll be set for a few years.

Orlando is taking the playoffs seriously, they had a pretty good team after mid-season and now they are planning to add more power to it, that's nice to see in the league.
I was hoping the Nuggets would keep him, knowing that they are also getting better but I guess they don't trust to build around a guy like him.

Possibly, sadly Gordan Giricek could be the one on the way out. If they've found a replacement for him in Howard.
Again, dont quote me. I'm just an idiot with too much spare time.

Great asset for the Magics in Juwan Howard!
Even when he was playing in the West, Howard played center most of the times. They have a very good front-line does Orlando:
Starting line-up (Probably):
C- Howard
F- Gooden
F- Gircheck
G- MacGrady
G- Armstrong or Whitney
Bench:
F/C Kemp
F Garrity
G Armstrong or Whitney
C Grant
G Vaughn
C Hunter

Juwan Howard isn't fit to be a center.
Tue Jul 15, 2003 12:10 am
nah, imo they will more likely go with this lineup unless they pull off some trades....
C- Andrew DeClercq
PF - Drew Gooden
SF - Juwan Howard
SG - Tracy McGrady
PG - Jacque Vaughn /Reece Gaines /Darrell Armstrong

If Juwan Howard can play center most of the times, when he was playing for Dallas, and Denver; and that's in the West!
Why can he play center in the East?
And there is no way he is going to play small forward, when they got Gircek and Garrity...

Magic declined to pick up their option on center Andrew DeClercq. DeClercq would have made $3.625 million next season. The Magic feel that they might be able to bring him back cheaper.
Does that mean that Declercq isnt a Magic in this moment? or he is?

The Magic could probably re-sign Shawn Kemp fairly cheaply. He didn't do a bad job as a starter.
Tue Jul 15, 2003 7:50 pm
damn, i was hopin he would sign with the Pistons............but it's worse, he signed with the Pistons arch rivals Magic
so, Magic and Nets have each had a major addition to their teams whilst Pistons have had none (assuming that Darko's production will be limited if any given his age).........although, i expect Joe Dumars to make some sort of upgrades as he always seems to
Maybe Kandi Man will join Detroit........ehehe, nah that's unlikely
Damn you Howard
