2006-2007 Playoff Predictions

Im not sure if someone has already posted this thread but I someone has then sorry :lol:

Anyways I want to hear what do you guys think are going to be the teams in the next years playoffs. I personally think its going to be the Lakers and Miami.

Do you mean the Finals?

If so, you're crazy thinking the Lakers will be in it...they're a good 2 years away from even competing.

I don't see Miami getting nearly as far as they did this year. I see them being eliminated in the Semis. Shaq is nearly done, GP and Mourning may not be around...Jay Will and Antoine Walker blow. They'll only get as far as Wade can take them. The East is wide open next year. It could be Detroit, Miami, Cleveland..hell, maybe even Chicago will be good enough next year.

My prediction for the Western Conference Champions is, of course, Phoenix. Same team they had this year + Amare Stoudemire, with Diaw and Barbosa getting better every day. Dallas will still be strong, as will San Antonio. The West will even be stronger than this year. Clippers, Lakers, Kings, and the Rockets should all be better than they were this year.

Phoenix
San Antonio
Dallas
Sacramento
Seattle
LA Clippers
LA Lakers
Houston

I agree with Dro that the East will be wide open next year. Though i would personally also like to see A Kobe vs. Shaq in the finals I highly doubt that it will happen.

That's a bold statement, but I'd love to see it.

I'm going to go with Phoenix winning the championship.

The east is a bit open as has been said.

If Cleveland gets any sort of a frontcourt upgrade, they have a good chance, but if New Jersey stays healthy, I think they'll take it. Also you have to consider Miami of course, but I think they'll need to add a piece to make it a repeat.

The East :

1 Miami
2 Detroit
3 New Jersey
4 Washington
5 Cleveland
6 Chicago
7 Orlando
8 Philadelphia

The first 6 are a given as all 6 are strong possibilities to make the playoffs...the last 2 spots will be up for grabs. Both Orlando and Philadelphia came close this season , maybe next season they will manage to reach the playoffs...Philadelphia has too much talent with Iguadala (sp) and Iverson to be out of the playoffs for this long , and Orlando nearly made the playoffs last year.

I'm not so sure I'd give philly a playoff spot, unless they make a big change I dont see them being any better, both Iverson and Webber will be past their primes next season. Its possible a team like Milwaukee (with improving stars like Bogut and TJ Ford), Toronto (assuming they make some smart moves in the off season), or Indiana (They're always much closer to being a legit playoff team than a lottery team, esp. if they make a large move in the off season such as moving stephen jackson and granger is going nowhere but up) will have the 7-8 spot instead of an aging and troubled philly.

In the East I pretty much think the top 5 will remain same as this year, changes will go on at the lower 3 spots.

The Cavaliers wont probley be in the finals for another couple of more years because o fthe fact that Lebron James is still really young and that he needs more maturing :lol:

Like Michael Jordan he didnt win his first title until his 7th or 8th year.

I believe it was his seventh year (could be wrong), but do remember that he only played 18 games in his entire second season. :-P

I hate to sound cliche, but I think Lebron is the real deal. I think he's nearly ready.

Yea i do beileve it was his 7th year (1985+7=1992=first championship). Lebron could win his first title in a couple of years or less but he needs his team to be very much ready. Michael had Pippen, Rodman.

Thats wat im hoping for Heat and Lakers. Could of happen this year if it wasnt for that tim thomas shot. Could of won that series then beat the clipps cause it jus is impossible for the clipps to beat the lakers. Then Kobe could of played like wade vs. dallas and beat them then it would of been heat vs. lakers.

Hah, what an idiotic thread. Offseason moves haven't even started yet, we don't even know what trades will be made and what free agents will sign where. Hell, the draft hasn't even taken place.

I'm really not feelin Denver with all the injuries, problems(K-Mart) and stuff like that next year. Yeh they will probably make the playoffs at like 6th or 7th but they'll lose in 1st round again...

Weak draft and free agent market this year...this upcoming season will be VERY similar to the one that just ended IMO.

Look at the team that just won the championship.

Jason Williams/James Posey/Gary Payton/Antoine Walker were all vital parts to them winning it all. They were all added in trades, none by free agency or the draft. Look at the Suns, they had a massive overhaul, almost completely done by trades.

As far as my team goes at least, we have absolutley no clue who will be there and who won't. I don't know if the Pacers will be a championship contender or a lottery team, and you can't argue either way because there will be a lot of changes.

Everybody's underestimating the Utah Jazz :scold:

Not only will Utah make the playoffs, they'll win the division title. Denver is going to give them a run for their money but mark my words, Utah will be in the playoffs next season.
