Official Finals Thread: Heat Vs Mavs

Like real basketball, as well as basketball video games? Talk about the NBA, NCAA, and other professional and amateur basketball leagues here.

I agree 100%. This is not a basketball team, like you said. Wade only tought us that flopping can win championships. Stackhouse complained that these rules prevent any kind of defense on Wade - you aren't allowed to defend him on the perimeter and he's too quick to stay in front of him and once he gets into the paint, it's an automatic foul. This is not basketball. NBA should kill half of the refs and make playing defense legal again.

The Mavs were doing most of the acting, not the Heat. Devin Harris flopped at least twice on defense last night, drawing two offensive fouls on Wade. And Josh Howard is always on the ground, it's ridiculous. I'm not even going to talk about Dirk.

/being objective/
For crying out loud, you Heat haters, don't be as bitchy as the Dallas fans were after game 6 (with all the booing after Miami won the championship) and at least try to be decent sportsmen. Even if Wade was getting all that calls and "Dallas weren't allowed to defend him", why didn't Dallas do the same thing? Tell me one good reason. Why not take advantage of such officiating? Here's why - Because they don't have a player like Wade, who can draw fouls. Don't blame the rules, blame your players who aren't skilled enough to get those calls.
And as CMinnifield said, Mavs were acting just as much as the Heat did. And let's not forget how many offensive "fouls" Payton made or how many times someone hit into Shaq (who was standing still) while driving to the basket and foul was called on Shaq (just because he's big).
Nevertheless, i agree that referees are calling waaay to many "fouls". But hey, it's the way it is, so why not be a smart man (like Wade) and take advantage of that?

/being subjective/
And please, don't say Mavericks deserved it more, 'cause Miami team was much more special than Mavericks, with so many veterans that really wanted the ring (GP, Zo, Antoine) and one player, who really is special. They had charisma. On the other hand, only charismatic person Dallas had was Avery Johnson..

yea dude, Alonzo was fucking goin crazy when he was on the ground like he was havin a seizure.

yeah i know, wouldn't that be considered taunting? they whistled Mutombo for his finger wagging, this is essentially the same thing.

Not really, considering Mutombo's finger wagging was directed at the player who was blocked and Mourning's emotional display was not. Mutombo wouldn't get called for a technical when he made that gesture towards the crowd rather than another player.

Mind you, back in the 1996 Eastern Conference Finals Shaq was whistled for a taunting technical after smirking at Luc Longley after dunking on him, so I guess pretty much anything can be considered taunting.

I nearly punched the TV when Antoine Walker was on the ground and flexing his muscles and jiggling around like a fat fuck.

I haven't read the comments yet, I just finished watching the game and what a game it was. I'm totally extatic for the Heat and big props to Wade!

O'Neal promised a championship and as a team they brought it. This was a kickass finals. :D Wade was simply amazing. Pure greatness.

Hmm, Dallas won't win it next year Mazz, Bynum is going to become a monster & Kobe's going to drop 80 a game to become the new champs. :P

Ahh poor Mazz, I was looking at your sig the other day. Thinking you can finally remove the Dallas winning a championship real soon. Good luck next season.

Dallas won't stand a chance in the West against the Phoneix Suns if Amare Stoudemire comes back to full health.

So he's gonna play in the Olympics this summer ?

Good interview nonethless. He seems to be a very nice guy.

Bynum should've gone to college...not for the draft status but just for the development. He came out of an area close to where I live and he wasn't exactly in a bad neighborhood where he wanted to make money right away. Still, there's a lot of work for him in this offseason if he wants to avoid being remembered as a bust.

Remember Bynum is working with Phil Jackson though who will try to get the best out of him.

I was at school when the game happened. When I learned the Heat won, I dissed my friends who supported the Mavs. Sweet.
