It's common among guys such as him and Payton. During their prime, they were great defensive players. Add in the fact that most of the fouls Zo is called for are ticky-tack fouls, ones that weren't called back in the 90s.

This thread is pretty pointless, considering nearly all players complain about officiating.

but alonzo complains after every call, even the one where he shoved a dallas guy to get a rebound. i used to like Zo, but he has turned into the biggest crybaby.

This isn't really any new. Him along with many other players in the NBA would shrug their arms in disbelief.

I'm not a huge fan of Alonzo Mourning either. I used to think he was an incredible player, but he's done some things in his career that don't really give off that "incredible warrior" vibe that most people have been associating him with. The guy basically had kidney problems and should have been grateful to be even playing in the NBA, but he's used that as an excuse to bail on a few teams (New Jersey, Toronto).

I realize that. Do you also hate the other 80% of the league that complains after every call?

i dont think its nearly 80% that question every call the ref makes on them, be realistic. I see players question some calls by the refs, but hardly any of them do it as much as Zo, which is every damn time.

He always complained even when he was in his prime.

But to his defense, the officiating in the NBA is really mystifying.

Officiating in the NBA is inconsistent, yes, but the Heat are always the team that attacks the referee system and that hurts them a lot at times when players like Shaq and Zo are needed on the court.

The thing about Zo is he questions nearly every single foul call, unlike most players.

Problem is, he does a lot of shoving and stuff and then acts like it isn't a foul. Then he'll block a shot and act like he made the game winning play by flexing himself. To his credit he has toned it down.

Then again, there are always those who come on these forums and say things like those as if they're fact.

Karl now coaches at Denver, where he periodically rails against flopping and comes off as a member of the Olajuwon-Cowens school. But he seems to have swallowed his tongue since acquiring notorious flopper (and testicles squeezer) Reggie Evans.

I still think players like Tim Duncan, Rasheed Wallace, and Kobe are all worse. To Zo's credit, I don't recall him getting more than 1 or 2 technical fouls all year.

we are talking about regular fouls, not technical fouls. Its not that zo goes to the ref everytime and yells at him, its the fact that he is always throwing his arms in the air, or he will have a look of shock on his face as he did nothing wrong. Which wouldnt result in technical fouls.

very true. Detroit is the worst when it comes this. Collectively they have to be the biggest whiners in the league

Stern should do something about this. nothing is really being done so the players/coaches keep on doing it. it's gotten so bad that it seems that after every damn, single call a player is complaining about it. sometimes even players stop playing so they can go bitch at the ref. i suggest levying quicker/harsher fines for this.

i think a lot of people don't like Steve Javie's (sp?) style of having a very low tolerance to complaining/having a quick trigger to call a tech.. but it works. the player/coach shuts up and the game carries on

at the least, leave the complaining to the coaches

I have no time for it....I can understand & tolerate it if it's a bad or questionable call & especially if it is at a crucial point in a game....breaks go your way sometimes & other times they don't....but damn, you know when you hit a guy, you know when you shove a guy....Zo has always been a crybaby & whinger....that's why it's very hard to like a player like him, even with his health issues....

Zo is a warrior. No one that plays with what he is going through is a whinger. Case closed.
