Bulls To Pursue Big Ben in Offseason?

KG is the kind of guy that can still score and be productive even into old age, i dont see the same hapening with Ben. He's going to be great where ever he goes. He's arguable the best low post defender and rebounder in the game, and he's a multiple time all star and DOP, so i dont know why it would be a bad move for chicago other than the cap restrictions. Their only problem could be dealing with the money that Nocioni, Deng, Gordon, Duhon, and Hinrich will all want when their contracts come up.

I still think they should try to get KG first, then get Wallace second.

One thing I recently learned about KG is that he has played over 30,000 minutes in his career. That's a career for most hall of famers.

I don't know how much he's got left in his tank.

Same thing with Big Ben, he's aging, and won't be deserving of a max contract in 3 years.

What type of contract Ben gets is going to be very, very interesting.

i'm not sure either how much is left in KG's tank but keep in mind that he doesn't have a lot postseason minutes logged and he hasn't missed a lot games due to injury

anywho- i'd like to see the Bulls to go after Wallace just so they can drive his price up. the bulls have around $15 mil to offer him this year lol

Wallace is awesome but as others have mentioned- he's getting up there in age. I'd be very happy if Detroit locked him up longterm on a big contract

Ben Wallace with a *max* contract? Detroit is sealing their doom if they did that, because they'll certainly be overcap meaning every dollar is doubled.

The max for a 10 year veteran in 05-06 is $16.8 million per year. Going by their 35% of cap guide, i'm estimating that will be around $17.1 million for the next season. Ben is then eligibile for the max increase every year, which is standard in almost all superstar contracts.

I love Ben to death, but if his agent Arn Tellem asks for anything close to max, Detroit needs to walk away.

unless Bulls can offer a contract min yrs of 4 starting @ 12mill then they probably have no chance. Besides, they need a scoring big man, their D is good enough.

They can offer it with 16 million cap room, it's just will you really want to shell out all that cash?

I really hope they don't. I'd rather see them fall short in the playoffs than sign Ben Wallace.

That isn't necessarily a guarantee that he will stay. A lot of players would leave any team for the right amount of money. And, if Ben Wallace has enough confidence in himself, or a big enough ego(whichever you prefer), he believes that he can bring a championship to the team that he goes to.

once a player has a ring money tends to become a prime goal, if he can land a max deal and the pistons are not willing to match then i see him leaving.
