So happy right now. There will be new champs. And it will be Mavericks

Yeah, just forget those best-record-in-the-league Detroit Pistons, eh?

Dallas wins! Once again, Dirk proves his quality. He proved that he can win in SA against guys who are all having their best game. What else do you want? Dallas is certainly a championship material.

he still has bad hair! so there!

great, great series, even though my spurs lost I appreciate the quality of basketball.

oh and the game was called right.... every fan in the history of basketball thinks the team they are rooting for is getting shortchanged. I came to that realization a long time ago, so I never bother mentioning what I think are blatant calls. It's essentially whining. I hate it when people (i'm not singling you out dada, I'm just thinking out loud) say the game was decided by refs. They then go and point at the number of free throws. This isn't frickin politics, refs shouldn't even think about 'even-ing' it out. The team that plays inside, drives more, and relies on points in the paint is going to have more free throws. If you rely more on that type of game of course theres gonna be a bigger chance of miscalls because the percentage of actual fouls that occur are higher. Look at phoenix for example who get so little free throws relative to their ppg. Its not a lack of respect or bad calls, its just if you want to get lots of fouls called your way you have to play a certain way.

bowen didn't foul dirk when he was playing his normal annoying d. Its just called high pressure d, lindsey hunter did it on lebron. bodying up isn't a foul. it's annoying yes, but it isnt illegal. does bowen play dirty? sure, but so did rodman, hell so did pretty much every great defender in nba history. Is it ugly? yes, but it aint a foul. considering the refs that were calling the game, I'm more than confident in their ability to decipher what is and isn't a foul over mine.

anyway I fully expect san antonio to come back stronger next year. Duncan will be a monster, and imo the top 2 mvp candidates will be him and lebron (or dirk).

Desagana Diop is my new hero.

he won that game for Dallas in OT...

with some help from Dirk with that 3point play at the end of regulation.

We wouldn't be having this discussion had the referees not been blind in the final seconds of the fourth quarter when Duncan was clearly fouled - Timmy got robbed.

Yeah, sure, Dallas outplayed San Antonio for most of the series but I'm required to whine because I hate the Dallas Mavericks. I like a few of the players on the Mavericks but I refuse to be a fan of a team whose owner is a sleeze-bag. Go Phoenix.

can you imagine if dallas had lost? i'm not even a mavs fan and i'm demoralized thinking about it. :D

when all is said and done i think we can all agree that this is andrew's fault. In the future andrew please refrain from even hinting a winning prediction concerning the spurs. in fact i'd appreciate if you called them the spu, we don't need any of your australian voodoo thank you very much.

Amen to that, brother. I'm thrilled.... I missed the game due to being out buying old NES games to resell on Ebay, though

Mavs and Suns should be a freaking amazing series to watch, here's hoping it goes 7 as well, I don't really care who comes out on top.

I personally don't care all that much who wins out of the Western Conference but I would absolutely LOVE to see Miami knock out the Pistons. I'd pay good money to see a Miami vs. Phoenix/Dallas Finals matchup.

YE-E-E-ESSS!!!

I love Diop! I love Nowitzki! And I love...I don't hate...ah well, I still don't like Mark Cuban. But what the hell! Excitement is back in the playoffs, now that the Spurs are out. I hate it when a team wins two championships in a row. Now let's hope Miami takes care of the Pistons. Hello, new world champions!!!

Nah, you're not pinning this one on me. I admit, I worked on the Sixers towards the end but you gotta remember I picked the Suns to win in 7 and they did, and the Spurs over Detroit last year. They're immune from the jinx, they lost this one on their own. :P

Wish I could've seen Game 7, sounded like a great conclusion to the series. As I've said before, it only stands to reason that it was a great game because ESPN Australia didn't carry it.

When the defending champions remain intact and have a fairly young nucleus they tend to remain a safe bet. Obviously they didn't live up to those predictions but they were hardly wild guesses.

Oh yeah, nice win, I love that the key play was a 1on1 between dirk and bowen and dirk went through so Ginobili had to help. pretty strong :)

I applaud the Mavs, seeing how much Dirk has grown and how well Avery managed his team.

That said, I'm rooting for the Suns, though I wouldn't be too disheartened if the Mavs advance to the finals.

Same here. The Suns put up pretty good offensive numbers against a good defensive team in the Clippers, it will be interesting to see how they fare against one of the top defensive teams in the league in the Mavs. So far they've quelled the rumors of "can their style succeed in the playoffs", but now that they're not the favorite it will definetly be a good test.

Does Dirk grow into this awesome player that some people claim him to be if Duncan doesn't miss a bunch of gimmes late in the 4th or in OT??

lol doesn't matter to me. what matters was that Dirk FINALLY drove on Bowen (and Ginobili did foul him) on the Mavs final possession in the 4th.

i believe that Jason Terry was the X-factor in this series. he hit a bunch of big shots in the 4th quarter in many of the games and his emergence in this series allowed Dirk to get some needed rest

great game and great series. best series so far from start to finish
