I will be going out on a limb here and say that Allen Iverson will be traded to the Timberwolves this summer. It's a big gamble and when the day comes I can either celebrate or I can cry. If I am wrong, you guys have the right to mock me and laugh at me for ever. But I will say this: Iverson will be a Timberwolf next season.
There are a lot of sources here that are saying the Wolves "Plan A" is going after Iverson hard before the draft. The Wolves have already contacted Iverson's agent and it is well known now that Philadelphia will seriously consider moving Iverson this summer. I strongly believe that Iverson will be dealt to Minnesota. Who will the Wolves give up? I don't know, probably a combination of the following.
Ricky Davis
Marko Jaric or Trenton Hassell
Eddie Griffin
6th pick (or so) in the draft
It's a solid deal and it leaves the Timberwolves pretty bare but McHale has always been great at picking up great role players for cheap.
So there you have it. The Wolves will be in the NBA Finals next year with Iverson and Garnett leading us to the trophy! I think I'll personalize my Iverson #3 Wolves jersey now.

why would philly want ricky davis if they were rebuilding? is his contract year coming up? the only way i see philly making a deal with minny for kg is for expiring contracts (i don't know if there are any), mccants and their 1st.... maybe even add griffin. Otherwise whats the point in going after vets? imo ny and chicago have more to offer if philly is serious about making a good deal. but if mchale can rob philly i'm not against it.

It slightly makes sense because in a rebuilding stage it's good to get a decent player so that other players can develop while one still holds the team together and by the time his contract or career is up the other players will be developed and ready to take over.

wtf
hell no thats not happenin
if it does imma kill my self actually first imma kill u then kill my self
Thu May 18, 2006 10:22 am
with or without iverson the wolves are not going to the finals next season. hell they probably have a better chance without him.

I'll write that in my forehead so I won't forget it. If you're right, then...
I can cry.
I don't think that the Sixers will move Iverson. He's just like Garnett in Minny. They're the face of the franchise. Besides, like magius said, why would the Sixers want Davis, when they got Andre, Korver, Salmons and Willie covering the 2 & 3 spots. I'll give you Hassel, Griffin and the 6th pick for Webber, Riot
Thu May 18, 2006 11:28 am
Davis has two years left on his contract. He can be a valuable guy and a very well rounded player. The problem is we might not have what it takes to get Iverson, but that 6th pick, Griffin and Hassell/Jaric is really tempting to Philly (or so I hear).
Thu May 18, 2006 11:56 am
Who is expected to be the 6th pick? Any draft guys here who can help?
Thu May 18, 2006 11:58 am
The Wolves have far too many holes to be anything more than first round fodder, even if they did pick up AI. I wouldn't have too much confidence in Casey as the coach either if I were a Timberwolves fan.
I think the Wolves need to just deal KG for some solid draft picks and look to the future. Picking up a few decent players will only create prolonged mediocrity, something Sixers fans know too much about...

Philly receives:
1) A draft pick in a very WEAK draft
2) Eddie Griffin (4.4 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.7 MIL)
3) Marko Jaric (7.8 PPG, 3.9 APG, 6 MIL + 4 yrs rising)
/ Trenton Hassell (9.2 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 4 MIL)
4) Ricky Davis (19.4 PPG, 5.1 APG, 6 MIL)
Minnesota receives:
1) Allen Iverson (33.0 PPG, 7.0 APG, 18 MIL + 2 yrs rising)
Incoming Minnesota salary: 18 million in 06-07
Incoming Philadelphia salary: about 19 million in 06-07
TRADE ACCEPTED
Minnesota;
C- Mark Blount
PF- Kevin Garnett
SF- Rashad McCants
SG- Allen Iverson
PG- Troy Hudson
6- Trenton Hassell / Marko Jaric
7- Mark Madsen
8- Bracey Wright
9-15- Benchwarmers
Leaves Minnesota with entire salary cap riding on two players. Philly receives an abundance of talent to add to their roster. Would you really like this trade Riot so much? Think about it from both perspectives.
Thu May 18, 2006 1:47 pm
I'd be shocked if Philly did that deal. I don't think Minny has the peices to make a deal for Iverson. I think McCants would have to be included for sure, and after that I don't see a whole lot Philly would be interested in. Definitley not Davis, that makes no sense for Philly.
Thu May 18, 2006 2:10 pm
I actually heard that Philly is interested in Davis and Hassell.
Thu May 18, 2006 2:40 pm
Did you hear this first hand?
Thu May 18, 2006 2:44 pm
I heard it from a guy at a radio station here locally (KFAN) who has "sources". I don't know if anything will happen because other teams might offer more, but it sounds like Philly will deal Iverson this summer.
Thu May 18, 2006 2:54 pm
I don't know why you'll completely disregard any KG trade rumours, say they're all fake and there is no way it's happening, but when someone in Minnesota says "sources" have told him Iverson is being traded to the Wolves you're all over it. Who on Earth could Minnesota possibly have that Philadelphia would want?
Ricky Davis
Marko Jaric or Trenton Hassell
Eddie Griffin
6th pick (or so) in the draft
That's awful. If I'm Philadelphia the only thing I take out of that is maybe the draft pick and Griffin.
Thu May 18, 2006 3:57 pm
would they really accept that many players?
Thu May 18, 2006 4:06 pm
The sixers wont take Marko Jaric and his radioactive contract.
Sources in LA have also said that the T-pups are interested in Andrew Bynum and sources have also called KG to LA a huge possibility in the offseason. But i know it's a pipe dream like Iverson to the sixers.
Besides, other teams can offer Philly better deals than the T-pups.

What Jae said, I really dont see Philly going that cheap when trading Iverson when they can get players way more potential or a future star back. Last thing they want is an exhibition of role players who are by no means the youngest of the bunch when they want to rebuild or start fresh.
There's no true source on a trade like this even happening so I think its just local 'Sota hype.
Thu May 18, 2006 6:40 pm
Here is a look at the lineup of the 76ers if this trade really happened
C : Dalembert - Hunter
PF: Webber - Griffin
SF: Korver - Hassell - Salmons
SG: Iguodala - Davis - Green
PG: Jaric - Ollie - Williams
Free agents : Matt Barnes, Michael Bradley, Shavlik Randolph
If Philadelphia has Minnesota's 6th pick, they got many options like to name a few ...
PG : Randy Foye
PG : Marcus Williams ( Stock market rising )
SG : Brandon Roy ( Versatile player that can also play the PG )
Thu May 18, 2006 9:01 pm
Why would the want Davis and Hassell, if they have Iguodala and Korver to develop? And Jaric, a PG with a bad contract? If anything, 76ers will gonna rebuild and that means trading their big contracts (AI and possibly Webber, if you can find a sucker) for
a.) young talent
b.) expiring contracts
c.) draft picks.
Minnesotta doesn't have anyone as young and as talented as Phila would want, nor the expiring contracts. So that trade does make no sense to me.
Thu May 18, 2006 9:57 pm
I think for Philly this is a great deal, and to Minny it would look like a New York Knicks type trade to me.
Dont forget that Philly would have their 1st Rd pick aswell, so they could get 2 young guns.
Thu May 18, 2006 9:59 pm
KG is more likely to leave Minnesota than Minnesota landing AI in a trade...
Thu May 18, 2006 10:06 pm
I suppose one should never say never but I can't see the Sixers going for that. If they wanted to deal AI they could surely demand more than that in return.

O RLY? AI isn't likely to crash with KG and I can't see how getting a Ricky 'Triple Double' Davis, Marko '4th Quarter' Jaric, Eddie 'Intangibles' Griffin and a mid-lottery pick is a rip-off when you're trading your franchise player?
Thu May 18, 2006 11:35 pm
Holy shit, I've just heard about such rumors for the first time and I'm shocked as fuck. I really hope this trade will never happen.
BUT it wouldn't surprise me. I don't mean this particular trade but any trade involving AI. Philadelphia's management is so full of shit and they always wanted to get rid of Iverson. As much as I love my Sixers and as much as AI wants to finish his career as a Sixer, a little part of me wants to see Iverson on another team. I can't stand it how everytime the Sixers have a bad record Iverson gets blamed and the whole management starts picking on him even when he played an incredible season. And I also want to see him get the ring he deserves.
