Barnsey's franchise experiment...

Postby Nick on Fri Jul 04, 2003 1:19 am

Howdy,

I was bored enough to see what would happen if i were to start a franchise with a bunch of rookies with A grade career potential players, just to see how much they'd improve...
And i was also bored enough to create every single player. :P
I thought there's no point in doing unless i share it. you might benefit from it even...hehe.
Every player has the profile of a washed up 1994/95/96 player, i used a bunch of old baketball cards. I made 12 players, and replaced the whole Miami team with them... The players are pretty shit...there's no star...which makes the team the worst in the L. And hopefully, they'll improve as a team and Miner will be a star. Oh, btw, they're all signed on 10 year contracts, so they're not going anywhere... Also, i'm not going to make any roster changes in the next TEN years...that includes draft, signings and trades.

Here's the lineup before i start the franchise...
Image
As you can see, they're all players from the past...Some names there, Harold Minder (), Frank Johnson, John Salley...but most of them you've probably never heard of. Well i've set all they're CAREERPKGs to A. We'll see how they go after 10 years of sim.

To be continued...

 That's a really cool idea, I bet like half of 'em wont develop though, but good luck, it looks like it could be fun.

BTW, how do you do that thumbs up symbol?

Thanks and keep us posted[/img]

Nick's dad lets nick do dope...

but on another note...

i like the idea....

i bet Minor will develop to 96
johnson to 89

Mackey to 86...and he'll probebly grab around 15 rebs per game...
i'd say salley wil go down to 62, and then to 59 after the 11th season...

askins will go up to 87.....but nick-o should trade him for a PF...since he has none...
hammonds to 83...

just making logical guesses there...

Cool idea, save your franchise right now, then when you finish 10 years save in a diifferent file, than try with some of the bad ones like E.

but most of them you've probably never heard of.

That sounds like a challenge. :P

I'm guessing Keith Askins (who retired in 1999), Harold Miner, Frank Johnson, Terry Dehere, Eric Riley, Tom Hammonds, Keith Jennings, John Salley, Tony Cambell, and...Andreas Guibert?

I won't cheat and look up Smith and Mackey in the NBA Encyclopedia.

Interesting idea, keep us posted of the results. :)

Oh yea, Terry Dehere, he signed a 10 day with the Grizz a while back hit a game winning three (playing then because of fouls and injury, injuryies was the reason he was signed.) Signed to another 10 day and played well, then signed for the rest of the season.

Prior to that, he also played a few seasons with the Clippers. I believe he was their starting point guard for one season, despite being more suited to shooting guard.
