Clippers vs Suns

Postby Stevesanity on Sun May 07, 2006 3:38 pm

Seemingly being the only one here thats been a life long Clipper fan although I could be wrong I thought I might aswell start the playoff thread for this series.

I think the Clippers will take it in 6 but if Kurt Thomas returns I think it could change things, he's got the experience and ability to cover Brand although I think Marion can do a more than legit job at it if he focuses and isnt overused covering up players all over the court.

Cassell vs Nash will be the best matchup to watch, Im sure Sam I Am is going to throw out a endless list of comments to Nash but I doubt it'll work, Im guessing white jokes is the only way to go. But on a matchup level I think Sam can keep Nash quiet whilst Nash won't be able to keep Sam quiet, the x-factor for the Clippers will be Kaman and for the Suns prolly Boris Diaw.

GO CLIPPERS! :hump:

I'll go with Suns in 7. I believe the Clippers will take them to the brink but the Suns seem to have gotten a wakeup call from their series with the Lakers and are building momentum.

So we have a Suns thread about the series, and a Clippers thread about it. Time to seperate the fans again like we did for the last round.

Suns in 6 sounds good to me.

Well, I do believe Clippers will kill them. Suns' team defense (or Marion's for that matter) is NOT good enough to stop two inside players such as Kaman and Brand, and the latter has also a superb midrange game to go with. Suns have Nash as their only shot creator, while Clippers have two - Cassell and Livingston Youngster is especially dangerous, because Suns have no answer for him. He can definitely guard Nash and other small guards with his length and quickness and he has the best court vision of everyone in this series. Now you just add Cassell's experience, smarts and clutchness, Maggette's explosivness off the bench, Ross' ability to shut down anyone who has a hot hand and Mobley&Radmanovic' dangerous range, you have one helluva team. They can go small (Brand/Radmanovic/Maggette/Mobley/Casell) or big (Kaman/Brand/Radmanovic/Maggette/Livingston) and can be effective in variety of ways. As you can see, I'm rooting for Clippers in this one :).

They split the season series though. I know that's sometimes meaningless but it does suggest that the Suns can find a way to overcome the onslaught in the post.

OK, but

a.) Maggette was injured for most of the season.
b.) Livingston was not as big of a factor as he became late in the season.

i've got the Clippers at 4-2.....no doubt they'll pound the ball to Brand who is just unstoppable. Clippers also offer better resistance than the Lakers and more depth....having Maggette off the bench is huge too.

Funny how people have stopped talking about Livingston.....other guys have gotten the attention as far as "brightest futures" talk goes but Livingston is right up there....he already can control the game like Kidd, Billups or Nash and he's easily the best PG off the bench in the L.

i think the clips will win, if the lakers caused the suns so much trouble imagine the trouble they'll get from the clips. They wont be able to successfully stop big powerful guys like brand, and now they've got a sort of "lamar odom" equivelant with Radmonovic, He's the big man who can play on the perimeter, though he's not quite as tough inside.

Lamar Odom was tough on the inside, created shots for himself + teammates, rebounded like a beast, played excellent D and for the most part owned Marion....which of these is Radmanovic capable of? none......which of these will he do? none.

Shawn Marion will laugh @ Radmanovic.

Unless Kurt Thomas comes back in this series, I have to give the Clippers the edge.

Every semifinals series except the Detroit/Cleveland one's going to be highly contested. No doubt there.

Phoenix couldnt guard for shit tonight. Oh well.

Looking at Marion's defence, you could make a case that he had a stl and 4 blks while Quintel Ross and Corey Maggette combined for a whopping 13 pts, 4 TOs and 0 assts. Of course I didnt watch the game but those two guys seem to be their featured small forwards so they should be matching up.

Now that I think about it, Marion plays PF in that undersized Phoenix team so he probably was guarding Brand. In that case he was owned. Oh well.

Your a fucking moron, just shut up. Marion is a much better defender than Kwame Brown thats for sure. He's overused at too many spots due to the lack of depth that the Suns have on defense and I guess he's the only real guy that can play good defense on that team with Kurt Thomas out. I doubt Lamar Odom or Kwame Brown could do shit if they were asked to defend as many players as Marion has had to defend.

 All the decaf in the world couldnt stop me from going haywire on Laker fans, specially ones that try to make Chris Mihm and Kwame Brown look like elite level defenders, well Kwame Brown at least. :x
