Reggie Miller Needs to Retire...

Postby Unrestrict3D on Wed May 10, 2006 12:08 pm

... from commentating. He has the most annoying voice and it hurts my ears just hearing him try to talk about basketball. I really wish he'd just leave or something - he isn't fit to be an announcer, not with that annoying voice.

Yeah, but he shoulfd take a behind the scenes job with a sports channel. I mean, the best analysts are the ones who've played there.

Reggie having played the whole time with one team's seen it all from that one point of view.

Well the thing is Reggie has played in 3 different Eras, the Early to Late 90's era dominated by the Bulls and Rockets, and he's played in the Late 90's early 2000 Era where so many players less dominant today played like Shaq, Allan Houston, Glenn Rice, Gary Payton, Jamaal Magloire...., and of course aside from the rookies he's played with/against pretty much all players playing now.

Bill Simmons in an article detailing whose stocks have gone up and down figuratively during the first round (this is one of the negatives):

Any playoff game not being announced by Marv Albert, Kevin Harlan, Mike Tirico or Mike Breen. Umm, when it's time for Game 5 of the Cavs-Wiz series to air on ESPN Classic, can Marv re-dub the play-by-play? Please? Pretty please?

If we're going to get rid of people with annoying voices, let Stephen A. Smith be the first. At least Reggie Miller has some credibility having played 17 years in the league and been a multi-time All-Stars and clutch playoff performer.

He doesnt annoy me THAT much...but i agree with you. His voice sounds like a nerd. Which is what he's looked like his whole life.

I'm in total agreement. What the hell gives him credibility to act like his opinions is the be-all and end-all?

It's reggie's experience in the league that makes him tolerable for me.

How ironic though, that one of the biggest assholes to the media is now a member of the media.

Reggie sounds like a 15 year-old whose voice cracks during every-other sentence. It's terrible to hear.

I'd take Bill Walton.

Bill Walton is stuck up and seems a bit full of himself while reggie is much more respectful and offers good insight. Nobody, though, offers better insight that Doug Collins. He and Kevin Harlan are my favorite mainstream duo. Since i live in the Seattle area i get Sonics on local TV and Kevin Calabro and Craig Ehlo are the anouncing/color team there and Kevin Calabro i think is the best play-by-play guy in the league, they are great together.

Ultimate TNT Lineup would probably be...

Main Game
Kevin Colabro-Doug Collins-Reggie Miller (He wouldnt talk much as the 3rd man and his insight would far outweigh his speaking)

Second Game
Marv Albert-Steve Kerr-Hubie Brown

Maybe switch Marv and Kevin because of Marv's experience, either way I'd watch NBA a lot more if they did it that way, unfortunatly Hubie Brown doesnt do TNT and i dont know if the same company that owns TNT owns FSN, Kevin might be part of ESPN as well i dont konw.

I don't know about that. Who can forget Cheryl Miller's enthusiastic proclamation of "Forget the dunk contest! 2-Ball is here to stay!" during the 1998 All-Star Weekend?
