I'd be almost as pissed if Dirk won it over kobe and lebron. He is NOT better than those two in anyway possible. Scoring, leadership, defence...nothing. I know im inviting debate with this comment...but i'm not looking for that. Thats my opinion..and it stands.

I don't think you're completely excluded from it.

Justice prevails!
Not even close, Steve Nash in a landslide.

Ugh, Dirk Nowitzki is the new God. He'll lead his team to play-off glory, this year or the next.

Garh Nashmania is taking over everywhere. I was playing some basketball at school with two friends and they were like, "STEVE NASH!!" and then they'll do some shitty around the back pass. Since when did Steve Nash copyright the around the back pass?

Oh well, DIRK4FMVP.

Whether you're a Suns fan or not, the quoted text would make you appear to be a whining kid.

Haha you have 1111 posts and manage to spit something like that?

Kobe is my MVP06 no matter what, I'm disappointed that the voting wasn't even close. Well, it was almost expected.

You did indirectly. You said that I am not excluded from blanket statements, and those statements called Suns fans whining kids (in reference to bad refs).

I'd say MVP was worth only two players in the league Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki...

I'm a big fan of wacky efficiency ratings such as those provided by the NBA's official site and 82games.com, and everything of that nature points to this award going to Lebron. I don't really feel that 19 points and 10 assists per is good enough for an MVP award. Heck, Tiny Archibald posted a 34.0 and 11.4 for the 72-73 season and Cowens won MVP (I realize that the stats are not comparable, but it's still interesting).

I don't see any precedent for this and I think it's just a product of the NBA making sure to market any run and gun teams that come along.

i guess it all comes down to whats most important to the voter, personal stats and team record. nash did lead a team missing its most talented player to one hell of a season. on the other hand kobe and lebron put up some really good numbers and carried thier teams. i am happy with the selection, if not him the i give my nod to lebron.

i have a problem giving it to someone who 1. wins back to back and not even once makes the Finals let alone wins a ring or 2. to someone who fails to get out of Rnd 2.

Last year he was in the Conference finals right?

Suns vs. Spurs?

And if it's like yesterday they have a pretty good chance of getting to the conference finals again.

yeah, The MVP choice is, the only choice that i disagree with, I don't think Chauncey gets enough credit for what he does (but then if you look at the detroit lineup with 5 stars.....) And to Nash Fans I'm sorry if i offend but if nash was so good, why didn't dallas drop?

Cloudy wrote:Fuck, NBA pisses me off. Stockton should've won it like 5 times...

I got a thought from this ^

If what Nash does is what an MVP does then why doesn't stockton have any MVPs, he does what Nash does plus defence. (but then he is overshadowed by some more spectacular players but the people who vote look at skills right?)

with respect, i don' think that kobe really deserved the award until i saw him cutting down on his scoring. nothing against lebron

If Steve Nash Deserves to be MVP for what he's done currently then what cludy said is true, While you're making Nash sound so great, your saying Marion (21.8 pts,11.8 rebs,1.9 stl and 1.3 blk) didn't do anything to help

Marion is one of my favorite players, but he's virtually unchanged from last year. He's +1.4 ppg, +0.5 rpg. The one big # that stands out at you is that he's gone from 47% shooting to 53% shooting, and that's certainly because Nash is now focusing on delivering him the ball instead of Amare.

Previously in all his 6 seasons he's hovered between 44% to 48% FG...and then he just jumps miraculously to 53% for an entire season. No GM is buying that Marion all of a sudden found his "shooting touch" in his 7th year (especially with that ugly form).

They would probably eliminate a lot of confusion if they rename the award what it really is: The NBA Leadership & Popularity Award.

of the past 25 mvp's 16 of them have been from the #1 overall team in the nba, 5 from the #1 overall team its in conference - #2 overall, and 3 from the #2 team in its conference.
