Quinton Ross all the way!

Ahem, I was mocking his grammar. No need to edit for me.

You're grammar is shitty.

You're is basically "you are". The correct word to use in that sentence would be your, since it is posessive.

I just seemed more inclined to pick on you because it was ironic that you were bashing his grammar, that's all. 8-)

Ah well Big Ben deserves it, but I hope that perimeter defenders get it sometimes over the big men. I thought it would be a close race between AK47, Big Ben and Bowen, but I can't really see anything wrong in giving him the award.

I don't think a perimeter defender like Bowen will ever get it over shotblockers and basket defenders like Ben. Bowen is a good defender, but that's like saying a midfielder is a good defender. Having a good goalie has far more impact on team wins, and Ben is essentially that. He (and Centers in general) is the last man before the basket, the last line of defense.

It's between Camby, Wallace, and AK (who still protects the basket even when he's playing wing). I think the Piston's success pushed Ben to edge the other two out, which isn't necessarily fair but it always happens.

Well in soccer it may be true, but I think that a any guy who can limit a scoring machine to few points is as valuable for a team as a big man. But for sure a basket defender/shotblocker is able to perform D on a high level almost every game, which a perimeter defender can't do.

Agreed with the above, perimeter defenders rarely get the deserved credit that centers/power forwards get.

This will be Ben Wallace's fourth Defensive Player of the Year award and that is second highest to Dennis Rodman I believe. People are starting to talk about where he ranks all time in terms of best defensive player ever. Do you guys think that is warranted?

What do you guys think?

I'm sure amost 50% of players in the 80's and early 90's were tougher defenders than Ben Wallace, even Joe Dumars was lot better than him in terms of defence.

Yep. In the years where scoring 130 wasn't extremly rare, and scoring dominated, compared to the times where teams top 100 and feel they did great, the defense got worse. Yep.

Ben is great, and this year, he won due to injuries and having another good year.

I belive Ben made a record in saying "you know" at the press converence. The longest sentence he could say without saying "you know" was " i do what i do"... That proves that you have to be a low IQ, verbal freak and a beast to be a great defensive player. Thats why I like him :D
wtf?

i don't think Bowen will ever win the award because of his reputation. How many players call him dirty? that must add up to something. Part of his game is grabbing & holding which is why he's below Ron Artest IMO.

Everyone in the NBA says "you know" too much. It's the one reason I hate the interviews and postgame shows.

In the end though, the slowing down of basketball probably caused the decrease in popularity. And honestly, I like the running teams like Phoenix better in terms of playing style. It's the way I play Live....and personally it seems a lot more fun than focused Ben Wallace style.

Rodman's only got two, but Wallace's fourth selection ties Dikembe Mutombo.

i'm thinking Wallace chances of a 5th are pretty good. He'll probably get 3 more seasons to challenge it before he drops out of the race.

did you see the job he did on Melo in the first round??

and I'm sick of the league's fascination with Ben Wallace & Bowen, even if they do deserve it. I think they should consider others like AK & Marion.
