The Mavericks Playoff Thread. 3-2 Vs Suns

Sun Apr 30, 2006 11:03 am

There's no Mavericks Playoff thread?
Well this is it now, a little late but better late than never.

Well Mavs lead the Grizzlies 3-0 with an overtime win today, am I the only one who was very disapointed with the Mavericks play all game escept for overtime? Very fast, very sloppy basketball. Also settling for shots that they didnt have to take. It's like I was playing the game in Live
Good thing Dirk is clutch (Y)

Oh well, game 4 coming soon, hopefully they'll sweep :D

I think it is gonna be a sweep, cuz Memphis just can't stop Dirk.

Sun Apr 30, 2006 11:43 am

yeah i bet a clean sweep as well

Sun Apr 30, 2006 1:07 pm

Damn, I wanted Memphis to win. But oh well. Good luck to the Mavs later onto the road.

Sun Apr 30, 2006 1:36 pm

it will be like 2009 when memphis wins a playoff game...

sweep sweep sweep

Sun Apr 30, 2006 2:25 pm

Dirk hits a huge shot to tie it in the 4th, amazing.

Looks like Memphis need to make some roster changes.

Sun Apr 30, 2006 3:39 pm

Sweep! It didn't even deserved a thread.

Well as a Mavericks fan I didn't expect that will be 3-0.
Gasol is just too weak against Dirk. Hope there will be 4-0, and Mavs will get some rest before the series against Spurs

Mon May 01, 2006 8:18 am

rest cant help mavs beat spurs, actually nothing can.

Mon May 01, 2006 8:22 am

I really think that Dallas is a darkhorse to win it all. Although I don't like Dirk too much, I do enjoy watching a lot of players on their team (Marquis Daniels, Josh Howard, Devin Harris, Stackhouse, and good 'ol Rawle Marshall) and the system that they play.

Mon May 01, 2006 8:32 am

if the Mavs can beat the Spurs in the next round, they'll definateally win the Finals.
Weather it be Chicago, Miami or Detroit.

that's my bold prediction lol

Mon May 01, 2006 8:37 am

I agree with Its_asdf, I think Mavericks are still underrated

Mon May 01, 2006 9:06 am

mavs wont win because Dirk fails when he goes against a good team in the playoffs.

You're basing that on what?

Exactly, and you really can't compare this Mavs team to any other Mavs team in the past. This Dallas team has more defense. Avery Johnson has done a great job with them this year as far as defense goes. I can picture anybody from the Spurs stopping Dirk because if the GRizzlies were like no.1 in defense (statistic wise) during the season, I don't see how Bowen or Duncan (who hasn't been exactly GREAT as usual) can stop Dirk. I think the only team that has a chance at stopping Dirk and the Mavs as a team is Detroit because I think Prince and Sheed can do very good contesting his shots and forcing him into bad shots.

They're going to lose in the Conference Finals against LA.

lol i hope, or even better the lakers and the kings meet in the conferance finals. OH man could you imagine the hype and excitement for something like that?! It'd be awesome. I think that if the kings win that its almost a sure thing that the eastern conferaence champions will win the finals. What'd be awesome is Lakers over Kings in Game 7 who play the Heat over Detroit in Game 7! lol

Mavericks up 25points with 6min remaining.

Good sweep by them, every other first round series seems interesting so far

Tue May 02, 2006 12:48 pm

nighty night griz :D

Well, the Grizzlies were the second best defense this season and they gave up almost two and a half more points than the Spurs...

Dirk was the possibly best player during the season, and he's easily the best player so far in the playoffs. Good teams who have the best player in the playoffs usually do well (See: Lakers 2000-2002. Bulls 1991-1993, 1996-1998. Rockets 1994-1995.) so you have to like the Mavericks chances since the Spurs are the only team they really have to face to get to the Finals.

umm last year. instead of winning games dirk yelled at his teammates and threw up clanks. way to lead a team. if they get to the western conference finals i know it will be because of coach johnson, not dirk.

lol you prick... players win games not the coaches though im not undervaluing coaches(kinda hypocritical).... and have you even watched any of the games he's played this season??

Yeah, right. It's not like Nowitzki is the best player on the Mavs' roster and without him the franchise would suck donkey balls... Of course, Avery Johnson has had a great part in the Mavs' success this year. But to give him all the credit for it is bullshit. The Mavs have had great regular seasons before, you know.

Mavs are just rolling on all cylinders right now, and i think a 2nd rnd matchup with Spurs (if they get there) is better than a WCF matchup. Mavs look favs to me out west.
