Your favourite/least favourite kind of dunk?

Postby Its_asdf on Thu Apr 27, 2006 7:58 am

For me personally, I don't really enjoy flashy, high-elevating dunks as much as I enjoy dunks with power. Guys like Dominque, Amare, Dwight Howard or Kevin Garnett are dunkers that I like to watch more simply because of the power that they can slam the ball with. Nothing is more satisfying than watching a guy try to break off the rim with a dunk and then flip out and go nuts afterwards. I love it. Although its called "unsportsmanlike" and I'm normally against things like this, I also really liked it when they followed up a dunk by slamming the backboard with agression. I guess I'm the kind of guy who likes it when they go up strong and with agression.

My other favourite kind of dunks (and a close second) are 360 windmills. Pure elevation. Too bad they take too much finesse to be performed in a regular game.

I'm not a fan of the "east coast funk dunk", or the under-the-legs dunk. I think its been overused in slam dunk contests.

I love windmills and reverse dunks.

I hate regular one handed dunks lol. I'm talking about guys that are on a fast break and do a regular simple one handed dunk, no elevation, no power.

I love one handed overly-generic dunks for some odd reason. I find them entertaining, especially if someone like Jalen Rose really struggles to dunk.

Edit: TBD, I love your avy. That Qyntel Woods dunk rocked my socks. :headbang:

I agree (y) Those guys make my eyes pop more than a 360 or a windmill. I used to be more into the finesse, but since everybody can do those these days, I guess I've grown tired of them. The in your face power dunks are always awesome.

I'm kind of with asdf here, I enjoy seeing non-flashy one handers. It gets the job done without all the ego.

I love me a good lob, though.

I haven't seen any NBA guys do it yet, but I've seen a guy did a 540 dunk, which was pretty good, although he don't jump high at all. Baron Davice said in a few we are going to see 720s.....I think so too.

Till then, VC's reach back, and his 360. everthing he does are so original, especially his 360 because he spun to the right, and it looks damn good.

I'm rooting for VC to pull that 720 (Y)

I have this video of the 1996 hs dunk contest, and it was either Lester Earl or Corey Benjamin, but he had a half court running start and took off of 2 feet a couple feet inside the free throw line, pulled the ball way back behind his head with 2 hands, and just powered it down. I loved that dunk. I like dunks where they pretty much try to dunk the rim off.

I don't really have a least favorite dunk, everything else is pretty much on the same level.

I like the following dunks: In Your Face Disgrace, Go-Rilla Dunk, Earthquaker Shaker, Candyslam, Dunk You Very Much, Look Out Below, Yo Mama (Y) , Sexophonic, Turbo Delight, Rim Wrecker, Greyhound Bus (went coast-to-coast), Cover Your Head, and Spine Chiller Supreme. Other includes tomahawk dunks and the one and only Lister Blister. 8-)

I don't like those shit dunks Wade does where he throws it down one handed then falls on his face, it's retarded. I like anything Amare does, and the sort of dunks Kemp listed up there.

I like the way Vince dunks. Sometimes it seems his hand barely touches the rim, its like a finesse way of throwing it down.

I hate when some players, like dirk or raja bell slam it weakly with two hands, those dunks suck!!! in those situations you should dunk with one.

any dunk can be a good one, it depends on the situation, elevation and power

I hate dunks where the dunk is pretty normal but then they kick and twist after the fact (ex. Wade). That like attempting a no-look pass and only looking away after the guy scores.

I love poer dunks, with elevation. The dunks Desmond Mason used to are my favourites. This guy is really powerful and can jump out of the gym. He can do the fancy dunks with real power, seems like he can rip the rim off. I actually don't like Jason Richardson's dunks. They are just too weak. It looks nice, but he dosen't have the explosivness that Mason has.

Those were Darryl Dawkins' dunks, right? The fact that he named his dunks in such an extraordinary way alone made them cool.

For me, every Vince Carter dunk from the 2000 dunk contest is my favourite.
