The Curse of the 2002 Draft.

Mon Apr 17, 2006 6:50 am

Is it just me or do guys from the 2002 Draft have the worst luck?

Yao Ming - Just started breaking out this season, broke his foot and needs surgery.
Amare - Microfractures and surgery on both needs. All-Star career very likely over before it even got started.
Jay Williams - Motorcycle accident. Career over.
Dajuan Wagner - Apparently had his colon removed. Career over.
Nene - Broken leg.
Tskitishvili - Broken game.

And the greatest tragedy of all...

Mike Dunleavy - Perfectly fine.

That's GREAT!!!!!!

BTW, i agree with you. But i still hope yao and amare will be able to get back and good...As i do for Nene and Skita...and for everyone that's injured...

LMAO. Did something happened in 2002 that caused this?

Mon Apr 17, 2006 7:22 am

Sucks for them :x

haha so true, they struggling..

Mon Apr 17, 2006 8:32 am

Was Kwame in this draft?

Mon Apr 17, 2006 8:36 am

Kwame was in the 01 draft.

By the way, thats an interesting fact on the 02 draft...

They've got a few good players in that draft, but they haven't been performing up to expectations or are getting injured...

Well I heard Jay Williams is in playing condition now and he's gonna make a comeback. I wouldn't be so quick to judge Amare though, because he has a long career ahead of him yet.

Amare played very well in that first game and there are no problems with the surigcally repaired knee. Now a minor surgery is required on the other knee due to overcompensating. It isn't a microfracture surgery on the other kneee anyways. Just a arthoscopic thing to do with cartillage or something.

He should of never fucking came back this season. They rushed him. In my opinion i think they should of waited till the Playoffs and then put him in in the second round. I think he would of been perfect if they did that.

No. He's planning a comeback similar to Jay Williams. I doubt he'll be effective though.

There does indeed seem to be an unfortunate run of luck for the class of 2002, but Amare and Yao might not be as in bad shape as first thought. I'd be surprised if Williams ever became the player he was expected to be, should he return.

And what if he doesn't?

Amare will be fine same with Yao. The Chinese are very pissed about Yao breaking his foot and the long rehab cause World Champs are coming up. I love the language the Chinese use when they are telling off Americans. This is what a chinese chatroom user said:

"He (Van Gundy) disabled Yao Ming! He's more vicious than a capitalist!"
