PRETTY COOL TOPIC, CHECK IT OUT...

Between these five NBA Players:

1.) Kobe Bryant
2.) Tracy MacGrady
3.) Vince Carter
4.) Allen Iverson
5.) Paul Pierce

If you were a GM (General Manager) and wanted to start a franchise in the NBA to help build your team, who would chose & why?

Well for me, I would chose Tracy MacGrady. I can't believe I said that considering that I'm a huge Kobe Bryant fan. I think that T-Mac is the NBA's most complete player along side Kobe; meaning you'll get points, rebounds and assists. The reason I didn't choose Kobe was because Kobe has never had to carry a team before because he's been under Shaq and clearly as you can see it would take a while before can get acustom to taking such a role and that is one of the reasons why alot of people dislike Kobe because he's never had to carry a team before.

Answer Back anyone or as some people say:
Holla Back at me. LOL!

well it all depands on the other players and where i need strengh...T-Mac is the most complete of these players, but he lacks Ivy's speed,, quickness and stealing skills...he also lacks Piece's defendive skills and killer 3's...

If i'd have to choose one of then and say which is best in the position they all share (SG) i'd say that T-Mac is...which doesn't mean i'd pick him...

like i said...it all depands on the other players......

if i were a GM i'd never base my franchise on one player, i'll try to do a Celtics or Lakers thing and base it on 2 players...that's the real key to winning... :!:

I would go with
««
««
««
««
««

T-Mac - 30,9 PPG - 5,3 RPG - 5,0 APG - 1,14 SPG - 1,19 BPG
Kobe - 28,7 PPG - 11,0 RPG - 6,9 APG - 2,14 SPG - 1,0 BPG

 Both have great stats but Kobe is more all-around.

Right now the Lakers only have Kobe, behind him the Lakers suck, look at Orlando, behind T-Mac they still have: Grant Hill, Darrell Armstrong and Mike Miller. My point is that if Orlando didnt have GH, DA and MM they would also suck as much as the Lakers do now, 1 player cant lead a team

Iverson is a born leader, and he won the mvp in 2001 and led his team to the finals. Just look at those Sixers and you will notice the next best scorer apart from Iverson is Arron Mckie, and Iverson took them to the Finals. He can carry so much of the load if he needs to, and still keep his team winning, and thats somthing Kobe and Paul Pierce are yet to show me. T-mac has been able to take his team to the playoffs without much help, but as good as he played he couldn't lift his team the way Iverson did, and Vince has the potential to be the best player from this group, but only if he can get his knee fixed up.

It's close, but I would still take Iverson. I can't think of a more determined player apart from MJ that I have ever seen.

I would have to go with Kobe or T-Mac. They are the two most complete players at their position in the NBA. They can do everything, and any team with a guy like that is going to go places. They have both shown they perform best when the pressure is on and they are both ready to be the best player in the league. It's hard to chose one from the other based on talent because they are both so young (TMac is 23, Kobe 24) and they both have hardly any faults in their game. I would go with Kobe only because I'm a Lakers fan and I have a lot of respect for him.

But Kobe and T-Mac are really yet to have team success when they have been the only option (Iverson- 2001). However, Kobe really hasn't yet to have lead a team by himself. Is that his fault? No. But there is the possibility that, like Penny, Kobe won't be able to carry the offensive load all by himself.

But you pick Kobe, I chose Iverson, to each to his own I guess? :)

i definitely go with t-mac. he has the total package. someone mentioned he wasn't a good defender. but i strongly disagree to that and that paul pierce is a good defender... he may not shoot the 3 as much others, but clearly he has it in his arsenal.

t-mac single handedly carried the magic into the playoffs on a bad back. keep in mind the team was supposed to be built around him and grant hill but hill went down with an injury. that team had no front court presence. mike miller and armstrong are decent role players if anything but they are no all stars.

heres my order
1. tmac
2. bryant
the other 3 i don't consider cuz
iverson: needs to shoot the ball so many times which doesn't make his teammates around him better
carter: still questionable with the knee injury
pierce: defensive game needs to catch up with his offensive game

just my thoughts

I'd go with Pierce - easiest to build around, not a complete headcase and his shooting efficiency is surreal.

My first choice would be kobe, he has yet to be given a chance to prove himself with top players since he's matured, we'll see this summer in the pan am games (isnt that what they are?). He is also the best individual player hands down from all of those.

Tmac has had lots of injury issues, and iverson has been given guys time and time again to build around and he cant mesh with them. Vince carter has been able to mesh with new jersey, but he's had jason kidd and richard jefferson to help him, i dont think it'd be good for vince, at this point in his career, to be the franchise player on a team.

Paul pierce would be my second choice since he seems like a reasonable guy when it comes to player chemestry and he's not had injury issues to much as of late and he's able to hit the big shots.

I'd go with Pierce mainly because of his D, his incredible offensive flow, and his leadership around the young guys. As well as clutch-performance down the stretch, and big play after play after play in tight games.

And, he's got a killer all around game.

It's better than making a whole new thread, don't make an issue out of it. Everyone posted as if it's a normal thread so leave it as that.

As I said, better than a whole new one.

I'd go with Kobe. Duh.

I'd pick Kobe. Nothing to explain.

lol....

anyway, I wouldn't pick any of them. AI is aging, and a ballhog. Kobe is the same, and I don't think he would coexist with another superstar (and a team usually needs at least two of them). Vince has had injury problems in the past, and T-mac has more back spasms than my osteo riddled grandmother.

If I had to pick one of them, I would go with Pierce, but I'd rather have a lesser offensive player but more on the defensive end. I think Tim Duncan or Elton Brand would be ideal players to build around. (I would say Nash, but he's not too young either)
