look here
dreamspeaker from .org wrote:Creating a custom team is still a feature missing from the series since NBA Live 2000. But by editing a few DBF files you can create your own custom team in NBA Live 06. DBF files can be edited using a standard DBF editor package like DBF Viewer 2000, DB Commander 2000 PRO, DBF Explorer etc...

Step 1: Edit the teams.dbf and copy an existing record. Pick a team that is closest to your custom team you want to create.
For example if I wanted to create Chicago Bulls 96-97 team then you
would copy team 3 Chicago Bulls :)

Image

Change the team number TEAMNUM and the name of the team TEAMNAME. The important part is giving a unique team number it this example 51.

Image

Now to make it a "custom" team you set the following:

Then change the -
TEAMCODE -> 13
SEED -> 0
CONFERENCE -> 2
DIVISION -> 6

This will make the team playable in "Play now" mode. They will not appear in dynasty. If you want your custom team in dynasty then you have to replace an existing NBA team. The game will only allow 30 teams in dynasty mode.

Step 2: Edit the teamgear.dbf. You need to have at least a home and an away jersey for your new custom team. Just copy another teams home and away jerseys and change the team number to your new team number. In this example 51.

Image

Make sure they have a unique ID number.
Make sure JERSEYTYPE is set to 0 for the home jersey and 1 for the away jersey.

Step 3: Edit the coaches.dbf. You need a coach for your custom team. You can create your own coach but for this tute we will just copy an existing one. Make sure your coach has a unique COACHID and that TEAM field is set to the team number for your custom team. In this example team 51.

Image

Step 4: You must have players on your team. The easiest way is to edit the players.dbf and change the TEAM value for some FA players (team code 50) to your new custom team code. You need at least 8 players on your new team. Just select any 8 players from FA and change them from TEAM 50. Then in game you can later trade and switch your players around as you choose.. you just need 8 players on the team to begin with so the game wont crash.

Enjoy your custom team.

When DOLFFIN Live ver 2.0 comes out on Nov 6th it will have tutorial on adding custom logos, jerseys and coach for your custom team.

The procedure is the same, except you supply your own team information, customise the team colours and so on.

Do you have custom art files for your team? If you've specified a different TEAMCODE for the art files and they don't exist, you'll run into some problems.

Unless I'm mistaken, you should be able to just dump it in the sgsm folder.

You need to give it one first (like Chicago's abbreviation of ci for art files). Then make sure you use this abbreviation in teams.dbf.

Sorry, I've reached about the limit of my graphics patching knowledge. It should be just a matter of copying the filenames for the original team art and then changing the extension.
