The extreme Kobe bashing in the issue I bought was a bit of a put off. Not sure it's professional for the editor of the country's biggest basketball magazine to be proclaiming that he is the "biggest Kobe hater out there" and that "I swore Kobe would never grace the pages of handle".

Yes, that certainly proved they were capable of being fair-minded and unbiased. Then again, I think not being featured in that magazine is more of a compliment than a snub anyway.

Yeah, I was readign through it in a bookstore... and it was horrible. I was reading the articles on Brad Newly and Aaron Bruce. It just looked like Slam with Aussie names in it. It was horrible (N) I can say that I used to buy SLAM 3 years ago but I got over it.

Excessive use of the words Dawg and other 'Hip Hop, African American youth' slang was just too much.

I miss the 90's, that was the greatest time to watch the NBA. Looking back, it seems that the era was gold, it probably shown less individuality (although it was starting to be), plus probably the physical play and the heated rivalry was there (Knicks-Pacers, Knicks-Heat, etc.), plus it was a laid-back culture at that time compared to what we have now.

Regarding TV coverage, unless you have ESPN, you have to watch every game on your local television, even though if it was shown on a delayed basis, it was always anticipated by the international viewers compared today with the arrival of NBATV and the everyday broadcast of NBA games.

At that time, the center position was still watchable with Olajuwon, Robinson, a young Shaq, etc. Not only they can dominate the paint but they have that little quickness on their game.
formerly known as jonas, used to make those stupid stuff patches for NBA Live 98
