The Pistons lost to the Magics without Rip. I know the Magics are playing great ball these days but noway should they beat the pistons. Everyone of the Pistons are just as important as Billups. I know this is just one game, but Nash is MVP.

First of all its Magic not Magics. Second of all, Billups wasnt the MVP in the first place. The whole Pistons team contributes as much as the other player on the team. So whoever thinks Billups is MVP, hes not going to be. Its really just a toss-up between a few players.

Billups is an "all star" at best.
It's Kobe or Lebron...
Sat Apr 08, 2006 12:23 pm
^^ its not gonna be Kobe, you team have to be at top 1, 2, or 3 seat, or atleast winning. If the Caves can win 50, then maybe.
Sat Apr 08, 2006 12:31 pm
Billups doesn't really deserve it but since the Pistons have been doing so well he's probably going to be a favorite.
In my opinion Lebron James, having carried his team to the 4th seed 3 years after being a top-lottery team, deserves the award.

I think he should be considered as an MVP candidate - heck, I think he could win it. He's the clutch scorer and the playmaker for the Pistons. When Detroit need someone to step up, Billups is the man. So what if Orlando beat them? It's only one game and yes, Rip is an important part to the Pistons and I'm not doubting that. However, Billups is still MVP wrothy IMO.
Sat Apr 08, 2006 1:02 pm
He's a worthy candidate, but my vote still goes to Nash.
Sat Apr 08, 2006 1:32 pm
If people are allowed to do this to me, I made as well do it now.
This is a retarted thread, Billups is definetly not MVP. He MIGHT be top 20 at best.

So, either my threads are bias or retarded, one way or the other. What are gonna do with you.
"20 at best?" Now that is retareded. Name me 19 others who can top him. I bet you will stop at 4.

oh my god, "Top 20 at best

". The only guys who can beat him are Nash, and maybe Nowitzki, or James.
Personally though, i really don't think we're showing Elton Brand enough love. He's a beast and should definetley get more consideration.

what are you on? peirce? sorry homer but guys who don't make the playoffs don't get MVP. Wallace, no matter which wallace this is.... no. Iverson, not even going to be in playoffs. T-Mac, this is the funniest of all. The guys played like 30 games and you put him ahead of Billups for MVP. hahahahaha. Garnett isn't going to be in the playoffs either. Man stop being such a tool and we won't make fun of you so much.

Dude, you have to be10 years old or just started to watch the NBA. Do you know what it takes to be an MVP? Winning games. Most of the guys(bold) their ain't even gonna make the damn playoffs.
The rest, such as Kobe, Lebron, Carter, Wade, Duncan, I guess they can be consider a candidate, but definitely not above Billups.
And Mac is an MVP candidate? Do know anything other than DP? Mac been injured for the most of the season.
Sat Apr 08, 2006 2:56 pm
quite frankly, whichever candidate wins MVP (billups, wade, bryant, james, nowitzki, nash, brand) doesn't matter, they deserve it, period. there were lots of superstars this year that stepped their game up and helped their team get better and to the playoffs. but yeah, no complaint from me -- whoever wins this one deserves it.
Sat Apr 08, 2006 3:13 pm
To Datruth: Depends what you call the MVP but I will tell you that many people who vote want the MVP to have helepd their team win at least 50-55 games... This season, there werea lot of worthy candidates and a few that would have been worthy if their teams were better.
If you're lookin statistically... you could make cases for KG, AI and Kobe. In terms of impact for their teams you would include other guys like Bron, Brand, Nowtizki and Nash. Then you have the guys who hsare time with awesome teammates like Shawn Marion (Yep, I think he could be a legit candidate), VC (anyone?), Tony Parker, Time Duncan and Billups. It's really open... but the fact that you say Billups is nowhere near top 20? Thats just bogus.
If you're referring to the MVP race... then these are the real candidates:
Nash
Billups
Nowitzki
James
Bryant
Brand
^^ There ya go.. IMO he's more like Top 6...
Sat Apr 08, 2006 4:29 pm
More like:
Nash
James
Dirk
Billups
Top 4
I'd say Elton, but nobody's giving him respect, and he won't get enough attention.
Take each of these players out of the lineup. Nash=out, suns suck. James= out? dirk=out? billups=out? problem is, billups hasn't missed a game in some time, and i dunno if dirk or lebron have this season
Sat Apr 08, 2006 4:40 pm
It would be great to give it to billups, but its hard to vote for someone who has 3 allstars on his team. That said, however, Nash also has a great team, and it can be argued that Billups and Nash both make their teams better. Without Billups, would Detroit have 3 allstars? Maybe not...
I really dont want Dirk to win it because then I lose a bet with my friend.

Well, if I were you I would put Pierce behind him.
Pierce is a top 10~15 at best. ( I was gonna say top 20 but hey.)
No way he will top Duncan, KG, Wade, Carter and Iverson. I would put him somewhere above Melo.

- Also, think how Billups played against Nash when the Pistons played the Suns. An argument could be made but right now... it seems that everyone thinks Nash will easily win it.

DaTruth36 sounds so angry/bitter. I think all the bashing is getting to him and who knows, he might be suicidal. He always says stuff like "They do this to me all the time."
Oh well, I wonder why he still posts here...who know.
Oh well.

The average wins per season for the MVP is about 62, so we can safely rule out LeBron, Kobe and Iverson. And I think its pretty obvious that no Piston will win it based on their extreme balance. The Spurs are also showing some balance that will prevent Duncan from winning. Nash, Wade and Dirk have a chance.
Sun Apr 09, 2006 5:19 am
I agree with Keith Frazier for the most part. I would love to see Chauncey win it, but it doesn't look too likely right about now. To me, the top 4 contenders are Nash, Wade, Dirk, and Lebron - only if he can get the Cavs up to or really close to 50 wins. I think Kobe and Billups have about the same odds of winning the MVP - in one case it's possible as long as the voters don't mind giving it to the leader of an 8-seeded team, and in the other case it's possible if the voters would rather give it to the most important player on the best team in the league.
It's really a toss-up this year, of those six I mentioned, basically any of them could win it. I wouldn't mind seeing Elton Brand win it either, as it seems as if he's not getting enough recognition around the league and in the media.

Gotta agree there. The Clippers have played great this year, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them upset Dallas or possibly move into the Conference Finals.
