I was just wondering, if he decides to come to the NBA, do the Knicks have an obligation to give him a contract?

Nope, he was drafted in the 2nd round meaning the Knicks held his rights for 3 years.

You think that Weis would've made an impact? A soft Euro Center?

yes he would of made an impact. He would of been a dunk-on machine and that would bring people to see the knicks games and sell tickets. Since thy would be selling tickets they won't have to go out and get 'big names' with bad contracts and the knicks coulda been a winning team

Not that he would have made an impact but the Knicks could have picked someone else

He was picked in the first round, 15th by the Knicks.
http://www.hoopshype.com/interviews/weis_sierra.htm
What happened exactly with the Knicks?
FW: They selected me at No. 15, but I had a back injury and I couldn't go there. I would have had a good opportunity to make it without the injury, but time passed... And there was no longer an obligation for me to go there.
When was the last time somebody from the Knicks contacted you?
FW: Almost never. I have barely been in touch with them. They contacted my agent directly.
Back in 02-03 in the Euroleague he had 40 fouls to 52 points. Per 40 min averages of 8.7pts and 10.7rebs.

i'm sure the Raptors-Knicks games would sell out. Well, NJ-Knicks now.
