Detroit will have to pay for Milicic

Postby carlos on Mon Jun 23, 2003 7:07 am

Milicic's team doesn't want to leave Milicic go without any benefit, and they ask for 10 million to leave the player go to the NBA. They say that as Gasol and Ming had to pay, Milicic will have to pay too. Will that change Detroit pick?

Gasol and Ming didn't have to pay that much. And Ming was in a totally different situation.
Detroit will still pick Darko.

Joe Dumars is most likely taking Darko. Carmelo blew off the workout.

I don't think an NBA team has ever paid anywhere near $10 million to get a player out of a deal in another league. If the Pistons are going to pay Milicic's team anything, I doubt they'll agree to that figure.

10 mil is too much, mybe its like yao's contract where he has to give a protion of his salery, maybe over a long long time it will end up 10 mil, co He isnt going to get 10 mil for the first 4 years anyway!

Exactly. As a rookie he's not going to be worth $10 million a season, so that figure shouldn't be an upfront fee.

I read somewhere that the NBA has imposed a limit of $350 000 on the amount that an NBA team can contribute to a contract buyout on a Euro player.

Yes, that sounds familiar. Not quite the $10 million Milicic's team is asking for.

Gasol (not Memphis or Atlanta) had to pay 3 million to Barcelona, and that's why he was drafted so high, to afford that money. I don't know how much Ming paid

We'll get Darko

Postby madhooper on Thu Jun 26, 2003 10:38 am

The NBA max is 350,000 so that's the most Detroit will pay, they player has to pay the rest out of his salary.

We'll take Darko and he, Ben, Rebraca and Okur will be the deepest front court in the East.

not counting SF's, that's a pretty deep frontcourt.

IMO eddy curry, tyson chandler, donyell marshall, a healthy fizer, lonny baxter, and of course- dali bagaric give the bulls the deepest C/PF rotation in the east

IMO

Postby madhooper on Fri Jun 27, 2003 10:40 am

If I added the SF's, it would be Corliss Williamson, Tayshaun Prince and Cliff Robinsion (he's plays SF,PF and C).

Chicago has a deep frontcourt but I believe Detroit's frontcourt is more productive.

But dont u think that neither of those guys can score? Darko still has to prove it and the ok cliff and corliss know how to score but it aint cliff's best season and im just looking at the c and pf right now(im just asking a question, not challenging ur opinion :) )

Maybe I'm still bitter at the Bulls organization from the old Pistons vs. Bulls rivalry from 1988-1992.
