why players dont play

hmm not a very serious question, jus being curious. why players like B.Grant didnt get to play even the winner is already decided in a game. wat i mean is after a game has gone into a situation whereby the winner is obvious and there can have no chance of getting back, why don't the coaches put those players who are normally not in their rotation into the game. at least they'll be given a chance to play.

Grant is coming off surgery. He might not have been ready to go. Still, I think D'Antoni needs to try to work him into the rotation more. Phoenix has been killed on the boards recently, and Grant was always a good rebounder when he played for the Heat.

You think the players just go to them and be like, "yo sub me in".

of cos i know man, in this threat my point is to ask why they make such decision, but yet you r here telling me they make this decision becos the player does not make the decision.

tracy mcgrady scored 13 in 35 seconds, reason enough?

obviously this wont happen often, if ever again, but you cant just take the win for granted if you are 10 up with 2min left or whatever.
It would be nice to always play your subs, and sometimes when you see the score of games you wonder why they didnt play much, but the winning team could have scored alot right near the end to stretch the margin out a bit more, making it look like a blowout.
as for grant, he is hardly recovered atm and probly wasnt fit to play.

Another reason is, if the losing team at the moment keeps their starting line-up, or strongest line-up on at the end of the game even if it's decided, the team that is winning will also keep them on as they can't risk it happening with there bench players. But more often than not, the winning team will sub in the non-rotation players if the losing team basically shows they have given up and subs in all the scrubs.

Generally they do pull their starting lineup and let players who don't usually get much court time to have a run. But there are always going to be circumstances where a player still doesn't see court time in such situation, usually medical or disciplinary.

Or there's always the simple explanation. (Though perhaps not in this situation...but why some players don't play in general) Irrational decisions by a coach. Like say Doc Rivers' mancrush on Pat Garrity. Or any choices Larry Brown makes.

what about when a team i.e. portland, charlotte, new york, who has been eliminated from the playoffs. You'd think they go out and experiment more wouldn't you? play some more bench guys. Ditto with teams like detroit who clinched their division and don't have much to do until they clinch conference.

teams like detroit are still playing for home court advantage
bad teams like knicks and charlotte are playing to try and get their team in-sync. practically the whole bobcats team is still developing, and the knicks will need to get a few years together before they can even work out a starting 5.

rockets guaranteed playoff team with a healthy tmac and yao, it just wasnt there this season. luther head will only get better, so watch out next season!
