Szczerbiak is American

I don't even notice. My only physical preference for who I use in things like Live, or who I make sigs about is how ugly they are. Like I don't intend on making anything with Zach Randolph or Chris Kaman, because they're both ugly fuckers. I could care less what colour their skin is. It might be different in the USA.

So you play only with guys who you find attractive ?

Not who I find attractive, but I don't really want a sig with some deformed looking monster on it. Randolph and Kaman are in this category.

Sat Mar 25, 2006 6:37 pm

True. Those are some scary dudes. Kaman especially.

But Ginobili isn't.

 Zach Randolph Fan 4evah!!!

Meh, I don't really care who plays the game, as long as they're good. But I always like seeing Aussies or Croatians doing well in the league. :headbang:

whoever said morrison is goin number 1, cuz probably won't. lamarcus aldridge, who is black is goin number 1, so the number 1 pick wont be a white guy. I get ur point and I really don't care who im playin Live with. But usually if I did a fantasy draft, i get all the black guys.

Sat Mar 25, 2006 8:42 pm

You never know who's gonna land the first pick and who impresses them the most in their workouts, fuck dont forget there's Gay and Splitter! So you cant say LaMarcus will go first.

Sat Mar 25, 2006 8:44 pm

Splitter wont even go top 10, no way he will go first. There is about 4 PF ahead of Splitter at this point.

Sat Mar 25, 2006 8:46 pm

He was good a few months ago

Anyways, my point was, you cant be sure! mmkay!

Sat Mar 25, 2006 8:49 pm

...which is sad, because he's very underrated.

Sat Mar 25, 2006 8:56 pm

Splitter could be a good pick since he's such a good defender, but his European contract is a disaster waiting to happen. That'll make him drop a bit I reckon.

I am black but I am also one to support underdogs. Saying that, I am kinda happy whenever I see whites doing it big in basketball. Its obviosly a black dominated sport but I cant help but feel good when some white big guy goes in for the 'fundamentally sound' layup instead of some crazy bandunka-jam (bashing it off the rim) or some guard comes off screens and sinks 3 point shots all day. It might not be as pretty but its just as good (look at Tyler down in UNC). Its even better when a white guy comes out and shows crazy skill similar to how Jason Williams did when he just came in the league.

i'm filipino but i don't care either way. to me, white media/broadcasters, especially in college basketball, overhype white players that have 'athleticism' or are halfway decent players

i see it with the Bulls- The broadcast team of Kerr and Dore, both white, have always played favorites to the white players that have come and gone in Chicago Bulls Uniforms. Rarely do you hear that team criticize Kirk Hinrich and when you do, you can hear a reluctance in their tones

I just noticed that both the MVP and #1 pick were white guys last year and nobody even mentioned it.

And exactly why it's supposed to be mentioned?

Because ESPN feels the need to bring this stuff up THIS year...

He said American.
Ginobili is South American.

white people are lame. 8-)

Pfff. That's plain stupid. If I were someone in USA right now, I would accuse them for racism. No doubt. Yea, I would.

EGarrett wrote:Somebody on another board joked "White Power!" when he talked about Nash getting MVP.

I also read this article on ESPN where a guy talks about the significance of two white guys being considered the best NBA prospects in the country (Morrison/Redick of course).

Whenever this issue gets brought up, I noticed that it's almost always by a white person.

As a black guy, I honestly don't give a damn that the MVP and #1 draft pick will both most likely be white this year. When I play Live with friends, I pick Nash all the time without even thinking about whether or not he's white.

Do the other black people on this board REALLY think about that stuff when it comes to basketball? If you're not black, does it seem special to you that Nash or Morrison are probably going to get those honors this year?

Very weird situation. And I have to also say, that it's interesting that when the majority/minority roles are reversed...you get white people who have just as many conspiracy theories (again: see the ESPN article) as black people are accused of having in other areas.

In fact, a lot of the majority/minority behavior seems more like human tendencies than a race thing, doesn't it?

(and let's try to be mature)

I'm white and race never comes into it with me.

I don't even think about their skin color. Michael Jordan's my favorite NBA Player of all time and I don't think, "oh yeah, he's black."

The X wrote:I like the fact that a player I can associate with (he's white, only slightly taller, less weight) can succeed with the same skill sets that I have IRL (can shoot the rock)

Oh yeah, I agree with this too though.

With NBA Live, I just draft and play with my favorite players, regardless of skin color.

I really don't care what color their skin is. Hell, I don't even care if they are from the same country. Being a white Canadian, you would think that Nash would be one of my favorite players... but he is far from it, I don't even like the guy. If I like a player who just happens to be 'white', then cool, but it's not a big deal at all.

Sun Mar 26, 2006 8:13 am

I don't care in the sense that white players are better, but I do care that basketball is not 'a black man's game' and that there are accomplished white players too. I would love to see an NBA where the numbers of black and white players were more even, so maybe having white #1 picks and MVPs will get us there.

Mon Mar 27, 2006 11:33 am

I also don't like how everyone says white people can't jump.

I mean, sure, the majority of african americans can jump higher than most white people, but I'm 5'9'' and I can dunk.
