Pierce has actually been teaching his entire team what offence is. He's an incredible leader, and loves to be with the young guys.

If he keeps teaching the way he's teaching them, he will retire with shit for rings. That you'd even try and make us think Pierce is anywhere near Bird is an atrocity.

You're comparing Pierce to James? It's quite simple, LeBron is as good, if not better than Pierce already. Was Pierce near James' level when he was his age? Nopes.

James isn't great, yet. He's damn good, whereas Pierce is alright good.

He can love the young players and mentor them all he wants. But has it translated into wins? He hasn't shown that he can win if he's the main guy. Ever since Antoine left Pierce has been playing great, but let me ask you this. What's his team's record right now? Pierce has shown that he isn't a proven winner.

Are you kidding me? I think Paul Pierce is one of the most underrated one-on-one players in the league.... And also one of the best defensive players at his position if he puts his mind to it. As for trying to piss you off, I'm not intentionally doing it. I'm just disagreeing with some (and by some, I mean most) of your posts. I've kept personal attacks to a minimum and everytime I did come close to flamming you, I at least tried to explain why I'm arguing/disagreeing with you and backing up my arguements. Its never a bad thing to have a disagreement and have a debate on something once in a while. If you can't handle a few disagreements on a subject then I suggest you just leave.

I have nothing against Paul Pierce, it's just his moronic overly biased fans I don't like.

Now, tell us again why Gerald Green is better than Vince Carter

Paul Peirce is not as good as Larry Bird, that commentator is just hyped up about Pierce's season so far.

All of their games are nail biters. If you were from Boston and watched the games, you would know what I mean. EVERY game comes down to the 4th quarter.

And the guys are SO young, they can't finish games. Their record doesn't indicate how talented they are. In 2-3 years, they'll be a championship calibur team. No questions asked. You can't argue that.

But that doesn't cut it in the end. No matter how close the games are, its always a matter of winning the game. Besides, you can also argue that if they were good enough then they should be able to have the ability to finish games without having to have the game being decided by such a close margin. Its like saying you almost had a triple double. In the end, it doesn't matter because you never actually got the triple double.

Boston does have a fine collection of talent, but I don't think that will necessarily translate them into championship contenders. Their team is filled with potential, but no one really stands out that can really put up big numbers like Pierce or Sczerbiak. I'm sure if Gerald Green has the work ethic, than he can become that player, but everyone else besides Green and Jefferson seems like a role player at best. Al Jefferson needs more playing time thats for sure... Lord knows why players like LaFrentz and Scalabrine are getting more minutes.

oh fuck..another paul peirce thread and another chance for his rabid fans to annoy the forum with their bullshit. Paul peirce is not on bird's level..bird was a superstar in his day and is now a legand ...peirce is an all-star ..no more no less.

P.S Why does lebron's name come up everytime peirce is discussed? What does paul's fans have against lebron?

EDIT: Just checked the box score of the cav's last game....celtics got pwned by bron and the cavs. Peirce with only 24 points and 5 assists? Is this how he leads his team with offense and crap? Meanwhile, bron had 36 points and 8 assists and 7 rebounds. Now thats a true superstar.

I don't know we're even discussing who's better between Bird and Pierce. There's an universe in between this two players. At first, Bird, one of the most fundamental players of all time and a legend winner of 3 MVP and 3 championships rings, and second Pierce well you know the player with so many ups and down throughtout his career so far.

Pierce > Bird = biggest joke ever :)

You think EVERY night he's gonna get 30 points, 10 dimes and 9 rebounds?

Dude, he had a bad game. Actually, no, that's not even a bad game. LeBron played better, yes. Pierce didn't do bad, but it's not like every game of the season he's gonna put up ridiculous numbers..I mean c'mon..you know better than that.

Bird for now >>> Bron > Pierce.

Celtics will not be a championship team in 2-3 years, at least not with Pierce on their roster. It's the same thing they were saying 2-3 years ago.

It's like people who were prediciting the Knicks to win 40 and make the playoffs before this season.

Well he averages 30/7/7 so it's kinda usual for him to do that.

Like I said, a bad game. But for any average player, that's a great game, and it's decent for him.

So you are now down to comparing Paul with other average player?
Devin Green and John Edward would be fighting for the MVP if they were playing in a league filled with player like you and me despite a bad game or two. :wall:
Pierce is a true all-star, but I dont see any greatness in him, and you are riding on his soooo much. :hump:

NO I'm not. This is ridiculous. One person says it, and then another person agrees and now everyone thinks so.

That's all bull.

And Pierce is a true all star, that is correct. I just don't see how he ISN'T great other than winning a championship.

OK, let me take his last game as a reference.
The game versus the Bulls was an elimination game and Pierce scored ZERO point in the final 11 minutes because of constant double-teams?
Though many of them are ill-advised, Kobe makes fall-away shots over multi-defenders night in and night out. James is also starting to show that he can make some shots when it counts most, yet he has always led his team to last minute victories by passing to the right man at the right time, see Flip Murray and Z in the last few games.
You may argue that other swingmans/star players also get shut down by double, or triple-teams at times, but for 11minutes and when his team expected him to carry them?
I just don't see Pierce's ability to lead his team to the final goal.
BTW, see this
http://www.nba.com/fantasy/features/liv ... 60324.html
It may not be the best analysis, but at least it is based on stats and is a bit more objective than our arguement.

You can't be considered great, unless you win at least one. Or at the very least carry your team to the nba finals.

WOW. how many hall of famers did bird play with the whole starting 5 was good and they even had good players off the bench.

Now name another good player besides pierce of the same level on the celtics now. Jefferson, gomes,West none of them. lets put this to and end. Bird played on a much better team. he had all the help in the world, Pierce is a one man show with nobody else of his calibur around him.
