Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh, Dwade, LBJ

Kobe Bryant, with a good big man, then a good supporting cast.

It's a proven championship combo. :P

Any player to build a franchise/team around, who would you pick?

My first choices would either be Amare, LeBron or Wade.

Thoughts?

Obviously, a young talented player... He should posses not only a championship caliber skills but also his positive attitude in winning games!

If you're going to invest and build a team around him, he should be willing to commit a long term relationship with the team. For now, my choices would be:

1.) Lebron James - a natural born leader. very mature in his young age in terms of basketball skills and I.Q. A very good investment on the part of team owners.

2.) Dwyane Wade - an offensive juggernaut. He also plays decent defense.
He's still young and he's continuing to improve.

I'd say a young player of course. Such as LeBron, Dwyane, Amare, Dwight, or even Carmelo. And in this order: Wade, LeBron, Amare, Carmelo, Dwight. There's something about Wade that makes me think he has the respect of more players in the league and they want to play with him more. Yeah that may seem obvious to some people as the biggest name LeBron has attracted is Larry Hughes, and Boozer is gone now too (but he's gone to crap with injuries.) On the other hand Wade (and Shaq) have gotten a whole bunch of big names to play with them and their chemistry is great. Why am I bringing this up? Because of the ever so important supporting cast that evaded Dominique and the like.

Second is of course LeBron. Him and Wade are damn near interchangeable. Although LeBron has been a little trigger-happy this season. Probably because his supporting cast isn't nearly as good as Wade's.

Third is Amare, then Dwight, then Carmelo. One more thing I'd like to add though. If I knew for certain I would get a top-level point guard then Amare would be my pick.

LeBron James would seem the obvious choice. He's developing his clutch play a bit as well so it's all good.

If I was going to build around a big man I would take either Dwight Howard or Chris Bosh. Bosh scores more, but Howard rebounds more.

The idea I like at the moment though is the one Chicago have (And Orlando seem to be developing). Get a young core of players and develop them over a few years. Look at Chicago - Gordon, Deng and Duhon were all picked in the 2004 Draft and will feature in playoffs in their frist two seasons consecutively. Add in Hinrich (Who has only +1 years experience), and they've got a great foundation.

D.Howard: next year he'll have his first real chance of showing if i'm right

Lebron: we'll see if he re-signs with the Cavs (i doubt it)

Wade: let's see this playoffs if nobody in his team gets hurt

Bosh: same as Howard

KG: really hope he leaves the Twolves and try to win a champ....no more time to build around him, it's time to win

TMac: same as KG
Endure. In endurance grow strong.

I choose Burger King James (SG)...then Wade (PG), then dwight howard (PF), then carmelo(SF). For center i'd choose keven Garnett.
