Besides the point.

Point: I had grown a dick by '92.

What on Earth?

Plus I was there.

And? Did they empty out the arena and let only you and your nose sit there watching all of the games, with the cameras turnt off so no one else could see them? Did you see secret games where the Dream Team fell apart and capitulated leads to any team who played against them seriously?

Damn, I wish I had thought of that then.

I guess an educated guess is better than just any guess. (Y)

Woot, Shane Battier made the list. I'm glad Jerry was able to recognize how valuable players like him are to a team. If Chris Bosh doesn't make this team then it will be an outrage.

Shane Battier will be on the team, though it should be Bowen.

But looking at who's coaching, Battier will make it.

And Shawn Marion should not play SF -- he's much better as an undersized PF, especially in the Olympics.

No i'm not,I understand that Battier is a great team player. But Beno is to if he get's a chance. If Popovich would give him a chance he could easily put 15 points and 5 asists on the board.Just look at his stats when he was at Maccabi tel aviv or Union Olimpija(all try to dig those stats up).I don't think that Battier deserves a spot on the USA roster on the other hand you will see Beno playing a starter against USA. That's just my opinion on Battier and Udrih.

can't believe they didn't give AI an invitation but Carmelo got one...where is the sense in that. Since when do you turn down a superstar who publicly WANTS to play and was the best in 04?

Anyways, they shold have a pass first PG, and the starters should be able to play D.

Maybe would be better to leave Kobe at home and call in his place AI.Because Kobe is going to hugg the ball and USA will disapoint again like in 04 and Iverson want's the gold really bad.I just don't know if Kobe is going to be a team player

C - Amare
PF - Brand / Bosh
SF - LeBron
SG - D. Wade
PG - Billups / Arenas

Would be the optimal starting 5 imo...

I don't like having Kobe on the team. He isn't much for a team player, and considering that he is going to be on a strong team, I don't think he will mesh well. Same goes for AI, though since Kobe was invited, AI should have been as well.

My lineup would be:

C - Amare - Howard
PF - Brand - Bosh
SF - Marion - Lebron
SG - Wade - Pierce
PG - Billups - Paul

I like Marion over Lebron, just because of his shot blocking ability, and excellent rebounding. Also, his scoring does not require him to have the ball at all times. He would work well with Amare, who could take on any foreign center. EB has a nice all around game, and really he is the best PF on that list so he obviously gets the nod at that position. With Brand, Amare and Marion in the front court, you have 3 of probably the top 5 rebounders or so. Not to mention Dwight Howard on the bench at #1 in the league!

Wade and Billups in the backcourt provides two great passers, both are leaders in assists. D-wade is great at dribble penetration and creating for other players... and I think with Marion, Billups, Pierce and Lebron there are enough shooters to keep people honest.

Just my breakdown though. Bring on the Kobe hater chants.

The only reason why the US won't dissapoint like in 04 is because of KOBE and that killer instinct of his. You guys can hate
and complain as much as you want, but i know i'm not only person here who's going to enjoy KB's presence in the olympics

I also wonder why Kobe (the most hated player in basketball) was the first choice for the US team? Maybe the coaches see something you guys don't see.

I don't get where all of the "Kobe isn't going to be a team player, he's a ball hog" etc chants are coming from, in the All Star game he played with the best players in the league and actually defered to them at every opportunity, to the point where he was passing when he probably should've been looking to score himself. Do people not think this person is actually capable of playing team basketball? Don't the 3 rings mean anything?

Please... enough with the all-star game. It was one exhibition game.

Kobe wouldn't have those rings without Shaq. MJ wouldn't have his without Pippen. One player does not win a ring, and in this case, they don't mean a thing.

Are you that thick? I was using the three rings as an example of Kobe being able to play as a team player, of course he didn't win them on his own, that's the whole freaking point.

Exactly! I mean if you have a "michael jordan" talent and playing as the "second fiddle" for many years without complaining and win 3 titles in a row...that's not really selfish.
