Oh true. Yaos still injured... C'mon, he's gotta get betetr soon! Even Tmac is back!

And X, interesting stat lines. What I'm impressed by Bogut is that he does his job on the court. That's great because it shows that he's a true team player!

A true blue Aussie maybe? (Y)

SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah will honor 2005 national player of the year Andrew Bogut by retiring a No. 4 jersey when the Utes host Air Force next month.

Bogut will be the seventh player in school history to have his jersey retired. The ceremony will take place before Utah's home game against Air Force on Feb. 18.

"Andrew was the heart and soul of last year's team," Utah coach Ray Giacoletti said. "For someone who accomplished so much in such a short period of time, I think Andrew is certainly worthy of the honor."

Bogut left the Utes after his sophomore season, when he was named AP player of the year after leading the Utes to a 29-6 record. He was taken with the first overall pick in the NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks.

Bogut is scheduled be at the NBA All-Star Rookie Challenge on Feb. 17 in Houston, then fly to Utah in time for Saturday night's game.

even so, Magloire would be guarding Yao, and Bogut would get the bum known as Juwan Howard.

good to see they are retiring his jersey....it's quite the honour, especially considering he only played 2 seasons there....that is very rare 8-)

Or, have the Bucks wasted a once-in-a-generation draft pick, and lavish amounts of money, on a rookie who's destined to be nothing more than a role player?

Man...even Kwame and the Kandiman got more leeway than that.

I thought Milwaukee didn't even run plays for Bogut other than "throw it down to him in the post" or "screen for Michael Redd".

For a guy that's just an X/O in their playbooks, he's been having a damn good rookie season IMHO.

Even "throw it down to him in the post" is a rarity... I think that's the key thing with Bogut, his numbers aren't exceptional but he's like the 4th or 5th option in the Bucks offence, and that's not even taking into account the fact that they're primarily a shooting team. On a lesser team who knows what kind of numbers he'd be putting up, but then again he also has the chance to become on of the few #1 picks to make the play-offs.

Oh and 6/10 from the field. I like it :D

I notice he's been getting the ball in the post in the 1st quarters now.

one of the rare bucks games i was able to watch, in the first quarter nearly every play was ran through him, and they were doing excellent. after that, they just stopped passing to him and they did absolutely shithouse for the rest of the game

are you referring to the Orlando game?

Do you guys think he'll be the best player in Aussie history?

I have high hopes for him.

I'd say he's the best Aussie player as far as the NBA goes... obviously guys like Andrew Gaze dominated Australian basketball for decades so he deserves some recognition, but give Bogut another year of solid play and I'd call him the best Aussie player ever.

He's hit a bit of a rookie wall at the moment, he's playing fairly average. The fickle Bucks fans at RealGM are turning on him gradually.

I think he'll be the best Australian to make the NBA and perhaps by that token the best Australian player period, but Jae's right. It's hard to discount what Andrew Gaze has done for Australian basketball with his play in the NBL and he might have had a different impact had he come along at a time when foreign born players got more of a chance in the NBA (as they do now) and decided to go to the NBA over the NBL in the first place.

yep, same goes for a guy like Brazil's Oscar Smidt (sp?)....you couldn't discount this guy just because he didn't play NBA, he was a phenomenal offensive force in international ball....for that reason, he's ahead of all other Brazilian ballers (Y)

I believe Schmidt is still the all-time leading scorer in Olympic competition as well.

Something like that, I'm pretty sure he has over 1000 points in total. I think Gaze was chasing that record in his last Olympics but fell short.

Andrew Boguts got a chance at winning Australian Sportsman of the Year tonight... he's up against Hackett and Brad McGee.

Who thinks he's going to win?

Also.. is he nominated for any other awards?

I think Hackett will win, didn't he break some World records or something? Bogut definitely deserves it more, he made history just by being drafted.

Also, does your avatar deliberately say "Fakers"?
