Is DEN going to Finalize Kmart Trade?

Postby air2k5 on Mon Feb 20, 2006 4:08 pm

What do you guys think? I was watching NBA fastbreak and the guy that met with ORL is saying that htey have their mind set on Franis. They now have 3 good guards since the trade with Detroit, and apperantly they want to trade Fransis by Thursday. To me It looks like Denver has the best chance since Orlando made up the whole Lamar Odom thing... And Denver would be willing to take Fransis. So, is Steve Going to Denver by Thursday?

Much prefer Martin to stay in Denver but the trade doesnt sound too bad so I guess its a possibility to happen soon.

Well on Fastbreak they said the deal would look like:

Knicks Receive:
Kenyon Martin
Earl Watson

Magic Receive:
Penny Hardaway's contract
Nene(maybe)

Denver Receives:
Steve Francis
Possible another player from NY[

I'm 75% sure Francis will be gone by Thursday.

yeh K-Mart aint all that nowadays, he'll be a role player by the time he's early 30's an his athleticism starts goin' he wont last like some players 'cos of the injurys. But then again same goes for Francis, he's only gonna be able to go above the rim and drive successfully for so long, thats where havin' a mid-range jumper wud help, unfortunetly for him he doesnt hav that.
I'll be back for EASO 2007, feel the terror like its 05 again i own this game!!

I think that Steve Fransis has attitude problems too, but I think the trade would really benefit Denver, but I would feel bad for Kmart for going to Knicks :(. See Kmart is injured all the time, plus his game is down. Steve is a good shooter and a good inside scorer which is what Nuggets need, they simply do not have good shooter on the lineup. Plus they were trying to fill that SG spot entire season with Watson, Johnson and Buckner, I think none of them are working out there. Trading Kmart will leave a possibility for Eddie or Kleiza to start :), well Eddie and Elson have had the opportunity many times with Kmart injured every other game.

So the Magic agree that Francis is equal to Nene and Anfernee Hardaway's contract? Francis has his flaws, but he should have a higher price tag than that. That said, the Knicks are the winners in that scenario. Sure, they're taking on a big contract in Martin but at the cost of Hardaway's big contract. Letting that expire isn't exactly going to free up cap room and Martin is healthy while Penny is not. Furthermore they get Watson, who's solid but underused.

Denver gets a star, but they've already got Andre Miller running the point. That's a small backcourt with a couple of guys who like to handle the ball and should serve to take opportunities away from Melo. Looks great on paper because Francis is still a great talent despite the baggae but in practice I don't see it working out quite so well.

So the nuggets, who are supposed to be based on their big men, lose both Martin and Nene and have only injury-prone, 31 year old Camby to hold down the front lines?

Magic take on Penny's contract locking them out from any big moves to complement Howard?

I give it a snowball's chance in hell the way the media has it right now. I think it could happen with some changes.

Well, if Nene stays It will not be so bad the next season, plus Eddie and Kleiza are not playing too bad, I think Karl should start one of them if Kmart goes. Why not put Franis as SG anyway? He likes to shoot, but ever since he played at Houston he was forced to play as a PG and make plays. I think he is more explosive as a scorer. If Nuggets leave Andre at PG, Fransis at SG then they would have two good scorers (Melo and Fransis). It will take some pressure off Melo and maybe melo can learn some from Fransis.

i'd rather see Nene go, cuz he is a FA after this season and I don't think he'll sign with the Nuggets, Francis will be great at 2 for us.

Uhh, you are right, I forgot about NENE's contract expiring. Though I think he will resign because Karl is a great coach, he can really learn from him .

Why the hell would Denver want a large contract at the point guard position when they have Andre Miller? Andre's paid quite a large sum of money as well, but it obviously isn't as much as Francis's contract and Miller does a good job of making decisions at the point for Denver.
