Then why did the report say the Lakers are "aggressively pursing" the trade?

Cuz he wants people to read his article I suppose.

Francis isn't without baggage but he's still a top ten point guard in the league, a fine player with some flaws. But he's another guy who likes to have the ball in his hands and while you need another star/consistent guy alongside Kobe you need to pair him up with someone who doesn't need the ball in his hands. Given the success Kobe had as one half of an inside-outside tandem, I think if the Lakers are looking to trade Odom it should be for another frontcourt player.

so if this deal goes down 1 for 1, it would mean that Orlando would have odom, hill and turkoglu @SF. All 3 are capable starters. Turkoglu might be involved in this deal.

Anyways, Magic need a SG. I guess they could have Turkoglu playing the 2. They are solid at every position except the 2 if this deal goes down. Keyon Dooling needs to be shipped out too.

Mind you, the old adage is that when a team denies any talks have taken place or a player is on the block...it usually means the exact opposite.

Pretty much.

I can go back and find the interview from Radmanovic's agent denying vehemently that Vlade will not ask or participate in any trade this year because he's very happy w/ the new coach Hill and it's important to Radmanovic that he receive his Larry Bird rights.

Boom, he's a happy camper in LA LA land.

If the team or player broadcasts to the media that they want a trade, you get the whole Ron Artest fiasco where's impossible to get good value because every team knows he's gonna be moved one way or another, so they don't offer much.

Exactly. That's not to say the trade's a definite but it probably means the conversations have taken place.

Oh yeah, I am sure the discussion took place, just not sure how serious of a discussion it was.

I am really praying for that frontcourt guy though. If Francis comes it would not be a good move IMO but I will still cheer him on cuz theres nothing I can do about it after its done. I want the Lakers to get somewhere and its not helpful if you dont support the entire team.

I think a much better fit for the Lakers, if they were going to get rid of Odom, would be to get Eddie Jones back. He would at least be the secondary scorer on that team but damn he sucked when Shaq got to Miami.

Lamar's fitting in well... it proved when he got injured. I, for one, had my opinion changed of him... however, I sitll maintain thateither Odom gets to score more than 13 ppg or the Lakers find a second option on offence who is more consistent... maybe they will get one this offseason or Kwame stops being soft and works hard on offence too.

If this trade does go through, the Magic imo would get the better deal. Lamar Odom played great when he was in the Heat but hasn't played to his full potential in the Lakers. Why? Because even though he plays SF, he plays out of position. Seems confusing? Ok, since the Lakers frontcourt (specially Kwame) can't produce, Odom has to do the duties of a PF both in offense and defense. Playing along side Howard in Orlando would open up more chances for Odom to breakthrough since he won't have to focus on rebounding as much as he does on the Lakers.
