He has heart, he showed that in this year's European Championship, I just think he is tired of trying to get some playing time and he just let it go.

At the start of the season, he was getting decent minutes in the 2nd quarters of games. He played like shit, and now gets nothing. it isnt like he just wasnt given a chance.

Orlando will have a pretty good bench if Darko goes through but as for the Pistons they may go downhill with the trade.

The starting 5 is what matters the most atm, just gotta fill around them. Watch as Carlos Delfino leaves Detroit after his contract and becomes a very good player elsewhere. Basically the bench is a juggling act now.

Oh well, this obviously didn't work out but this deal would be a nice recovery given that the draft can provide a pretty good player and the contract status of Billups & Ben is pretty much solved.

so much for that argument of selecting darko over all those other players because he won't have any pressure on him/he can come along slowly, playing against ben wallace in all those practices will turn him into a beast, making him ready to take over in the post when the wallaces are past their prime

Seriously though, I think Darko is gonna lead more toward the Kwame Brown side of things than the Jermaine O'Neal. I have a feeling Orlando will load up his minutes though, and probably get subpar production.

I'm glad for Darko. Finally he'll get some minutes. He must be very content that trade went thru. Maybe after all he's got some talents i'm predicting he'll become as good as Rik Smith was at one point in his career and D Howard being as good as Amare Stoudemire is offensively because he's a powerhouse defensively already. Detroit gets Cato and a "protected" 1st round pick from Orlando. What does protected mean in the Nba? does it mean that in the event that Orlando get into a good position in the lottery draft it'd be up to them to give the right to Detroit?

Anyways, Darko at least has some championship rings in his repertoire so once he gets into the groove he'll implement his championship mentality to the whole city of Orlando

From ive seen he is extremely mobile for a man his size. He's not a tweaner either, he has the frame to play the 5. Good shooting mechanics. Good shot blocker and decent rebounder.

i just think he lost all his confidence being burried on that piston bench. He came into the wrong situation. If he was taken by a team like New Orleans or the bobcats he would have benifited much more. You can only learn so much in practice, if you dont get enough minutes you can get stage fright when its the real thing.

it'll probably take a while. Young guys have to play through their mistakes before they become anything

that was the plan, obviously it didn't work out, but still, i'd pick Milicic again if the draft was re-done.....i guess this deals gives us a partial refund.

And it's a valid suggestion. It's hard to argue against the rings. But the talk was always that the Pistons had sealed up the long term as well as the short term by picking Darko and keeping him waiting in the wings. The fact they've traded him away strengthens the point of view that while he's got some potential and shown some promise here and there, the experiment would appear to have failed.

If he truly was destined for the greatness that was suggested when he was drafted, he would be playing more by now or the Pistons would be holding onto him. The good thing you can say about Detroit making the trade is that they're cutting their losses with him and moving on.

He could prove everyone wrong with a fresh start in Orlando (though it hasn't really worked so far for Kwame in Los Angeles). But I still feel if he truly was that good or could become that good, Detroit wouldn't so willing to trade him away. Not if he truly had the potential to become a great sixth man or even surpass one of the Wallaces in the frontcourt.
