Who dunks the most?

Sat Feb 11, 2006 10:16 pm

I was just wondering who would dunk the most in the NBA and who get's dunked on the most?

I think Shawn Bradley got dunked on alot before who gets dunked on the most now?

I believe Shaq dunked the most last season and throughout the history of the League. Amare was another mean dunking machine...

So all the other centers get dunked on the most. Remember the one with Bynum?

I think this season its between Marion/Shaq/Wade...but I think it goes to Marion.

Dont quote me on it though....

Not sure who has the most dunks individually this season, but during the Nuggets/Mavs game last night they showed a graphic stating that the Nuggets lead the league with 293 dunks this year. That's about 6 a game...

Oh, and didn't Wade have like 10 dunks in one game against the 76ers?

Sun Feb 12, 2006 12:36 am

I think Shaq had something like 12 or 16 dunks against Atlanta not long ago. I have a video clip of them all.

Shawn Marion leads the league in dunks, or at least last month he did. When the Sixers got whooped 123-99, Mark Zumoff said Shawn Marion led the league in dunks, and showed a stat sheet.

Marion, LeBron James, Wade or Josh Smith I'm guessing.

Total dunks or dunks per game?
Dunks per game probably Shaq.
Total dunks Marion.
Highest perc. of made dunk FG's (yes, they keep track of that) Lebron.

Here's last year's:

When it comes to players getting dunked on, I don't think anyone really stands out from the rest. Basically any big player (more so when it comes to small players) with poor/mediocre blocking abilities has the same chance of getting dunked on as the next man, and it's only a matter of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. (It also depends how often one of those players goes up to contest the dunk of course, but if we take it they all go up the same amount of times.)
I don't think Bradley has a tendency of getting dunked on either; it's just that whenever it happens most people take notice of it just because he's so tall...

If you add the at the rim layups and dunk attempts together, the league leaders are:
1. Shaq
2. Stoudemire
3. Wade
4. Iverson
5. LeBron
6. Parker
7. Anthony
8. Marion
9. Marbury
10. J-Rich

Thanks for that link cklitsie. Great site.

CBS Sportsline's NBA section keeps a running tally of the number of dunks. As of the last update, Shawn Marion still leads with 130.

Sun Feb 12, 2006 2:49 pm

it's Shawn Marion for this season as Shaq couldn't play with his gay bruised toe...

Sun Feb 12, 2006 2:50 pm

I thought Shaq missed those games with a badly sprained ankle after coming down on someone's foot during a Heat/Pacers game early in the season.

Sun Feb 12, 2006 2:55 pm

it wasn't as bad as how that dramatic Shaq went down...

Sun Feb 12, 2006 3:05 pm

How do you know that? I did that a few times when I played (both in organised and pickup games) and I can tell you, it doesn't feel too good. I can only imagine how it would be for someone of Shaq's size to come down on that ankle the way he did.

Sun Feb 12, 2006 8:14 pm

And that is the part that he should try to reduce his donut part of his salary....i really hope he can slim down...so he can avoid this typa injuries....

Mon Feb 13, 2006 4:45 pm

He doesn't need to slim down he's still got all that power... He's not as fit as he used to be but still playing great.

When you come down and land on someone else's foot, thus rolling your ankle in a way it's not meant to bend, damage is going to occur plain and simple. Even at his ideal game weight, Shaq is still a heavy player. His weight didn't help matters but when anyone steps on another player's foot and turns their ankle like that they're going to cause damage.

Not to mention it was Ron Artest's ankle I believe. It probably bit him or something.

Yeah Ron Artest would of had a sore ankle for sure.

But as they say the bigger you are the harder you fall.
