An article written by Kobe. Any true fan of the NBA should read this and appreciate his desire and dedication to the game.

seems like an abstract fluff piece. I wanna see kobe bryant address the issues that everyone has burning in their minds..like ..what is his view on being called a ball hog...on being the next MJ...he and shaq's beef etc.

It's written by him, and he addresses those "burning" issues in the article, just not directly. It seems like winning is everything to him, and I guess he really doesn't care if he is labelled as selfish or whatever. He just wants to play and win, and he helps his team the most by scoring. I suppose the equivilent would be Ben Wallace always wanting to guard the opponents best player, is that selfish?

No question he is one of the greatest athletes of our generation...and he will go down as one of the greatest in the nba's history. However, he has one vital flaw...he fails to make his team better for some reason. Some say it's because he's selfish....personally i think he lacks the ability to motivate people. His general attitude comes accross as someone trying to distance himself from his teammates....a loner.

How can you say he doesn't help his teamates? He won 3 rings rings with shaq. How many did shaq win alongside Wade and Penny? Zero.

The inability to motivate others? He isn't the coach, or a motivational speaker. The game itself should be all the motivation needed. As for being a loner, maybe he is. Maybe he does think he is better than his teamates. But the reality is that he is. Myabe he doesnt respect them becuase they dont work as hard as him? Maybe all he cares about is winning, and not being a funny guy or making friendships.

Or maybe he is completely misunderstood? I don't like him, but you have to love him if you follow the NBA.

I liked the bit about how he felt outcast by his own race because he grew up in Italy, I found that quite interesting.

Ok then tell me exactly why you believe what he said was artificial and contrived. What you posted had no substance whatsoever.

Also please quote everyone you are replying to because it was Matthew and not I who asked if you knew Kobe.

EDIT: Better yet, do not post anything at all because I wouldnt want this thread to turn into another typical, pointless Kobe argument.

because everything he says is exactly what i expect him to say, it is so politically correct i heard michael moore rip a kidney as i read it. i don't mind it, i just thought it was barebones fluff.

look, if you are inspired by it or whatever, fine, okay? i wasn't. could i write an essay about why it feels contrived? yes. but when i say im not inspired by it, i mean it, not in any direction enough to do anything that actually requires effort. so you win.

That. be. smart posting. yeah.

The contradiction was you saying its contrived. You saying that the article is "artificial" has no basis, which is fabricating.

Understood?

He seems to repeat Hunger, Mountain, and the Fire-Fuel analogy quite a lot.

No.

definition contradict: To assert or express the opposite of (a statement).

definition contrived: Obviously planned or calculated; not spontaneous or natural; labored: a novel with a contrived ending.

definition artificial: Not genuine or natural: an artificial smile.

you saying, "An article written by Kobe. Any true fan of the NBA should read this and appreciate his desire and dedication to the game." also has no basis, is that fabricating? where are your sources? what are your valid, impartial reasons? to fault me for not having valid reasons, when you yourself are making statements without basis ..... thats contradiction. Now, obviously you have reasons behind saying what you said, but you didnt state them, neither did I.

listen, i acknowledged that my argument had no basis (or at least i wasnt interested in stating them), so its just an opinion with no real value (just like most other opinions posted here), your the one who took value from it.

Yes.

There are many different definitions of the words "contradict", "artificial" and "contrived". Here's the definitions that are relivent (lol watch the definition of relivent get posted)

Contradit: To be contrary to; be inconsistent with.
contrived: To invent or fabricate, especially by improvisation:
artificial: Not genuine or natural (what you posted..)

Now the difference between what I said and what you said is quite clear. Let me explain. Kobe is the most talked about NBA player since Jordan. Fans really dont know much about him, so thats why they should read what he has to say and try to understand his perspective. Once you do read it, you will learn his desire to win and if you have any background knowledge of kobe, you would know how hard he does work on his game. If you can't respect that, you can't be a true fan of the game. I'm not saying you have to be a fan of his, I personally don't like him and am not a fan of him. But i do appreciate his game and respect him.

listen, i acknowledged that my argument had no basis (or at least i wasnt interested in stating them), so its just an opinion with no real value (just like most other opinions posted here), your the one who took value from it.

So you were just spamming? See, with you Magius, I actually respect your posting, and thats why I took value from it and questioned it. Yes I am giving you respect.

how was what i said not genuine? was it not my genuine opinion? i sure hope so.

nope theres no difference between what you originally said and what i originally said, except that mine wasnt a complete sentence. Now that you clarified it, you are officially forgiven.

yes, i was spamming because honestly, right now, im really not willing to clarify my opinion because i don't care to argue the merits of kobe as a person, regardless of whether i am capable or not. notice, how i said you win? you win. you win. you win. you win.

so in parting, im sorry to spam, bad magius, bad! this article is the bomb.

How many did shaq win alongside Wade and Penny

Kobe was a teammate of his longer than Penny & Wade combined. Kobe arrived in 96 and they won their first championship in 2000. That's 4 yrs, Shaq didn't have 4yrs to win with Penny (he left for LA in 96 right?) and he's only on his 2nd chance to win with Wade.

yes and that was my honest, sincere opinion. i still dont get how i contradicted myself, unless you think your opinion is an absolute truth.

we can talk about other things, this holds no interest to me other than spam and definitions. :D been here, done it.

It took about 3 seasons for Shaq to have a full season in LA though. He played 51, 60 and 49 games respectively.
