Josh Smith was anounced as the player of the game with all-around performance.

Here is the start of All-Star Weekend in Houston. As all participants were introduced before, so the first match was between Rookies and Sophomores, who accepted the challenge from them.

Rookies were unable to win this game, but only 1 shot from Chris Paul determined that rookies lost the game between sophomores team with Josh Smith, former dunk champiom, which was anounced as the Player of the game with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals. Smith was demonstrating solid game for such age.

The team leader at points was Smush Parker with 22 points, who was the surprise not only at this match, but also for each season, playing for Lakers and averaging almost 14 points in a game. Team leader in points at rookies was Channing Frye with 22 points, which is not demostrating such stats in New York, but was participated as the best rookie center. Also, Chris Paul had good game with 15 points and 11 assists, most of them to Frye which dominated against Krstic.

Sophomores were leading almost all game, but when there was left about 3 minutes, the real fight began, the score was tied about 8 times till the and of the game, and very important shot was made by Dwight Howard, which had whole 10 points, at the remaining of 2.3 seconds. Them Chris Paul shot a 3 pointer, but not succesfuly, so Sophomores celebrated a victory over Rookies 107 : 105.

Need to mention J.R.Smith and Chris Duhon from the sophomores team, too. They had 21 and 19 points. Also 2 first picks of 2004 year draft Howard and Okafor both scored 10 points. From the rookies team need to mention the 2nd pick of this year draft Marvin Williams with 17 points, 3rd pick Deron Williams with 14 points, while the first pick of this year draft Andrew Bogut scored 12 points and had 6 rebounds.

I played as Rookies, it was dissapointing when Chris Paul missed 3 pointer at the end of the game :(

Well, I don't know why he is being elected to sophomores team, but his shot was damn accurate

3 Point shootout participants were presented for the spectators

ImageImageImageImage
ImageImageImageImage

1 ROUND

Image 18

Dirk Nowitzki proved he is good shooter and scored 18 points. He was shooting first of all participants, so it was the result that going to second round was not promised, so he was waiting other results.

Image 16

Chris Duhon went second in this shootout and scored 16 points, 2 less than Nowitzki, so Duhon's chances were minimal. Actually I don't know why he was ellected to this shootout, because there was more better shooters than him.

Image 18

Baron Davis stood on the ground and scored 18 points, tie with Nowitzki, so one more shooter with less than 18 points would make playing the additional tiebraker series with Duhon.

Image 28

This was the most surprisingly result, when Rashard Lewis scored 28 points. Surprise was that he, but not Ray Allen wa ellected to this shootout, but he proved that he is better than him, having the best result for now.

Image 23

Cuttino Mobley scored 23 points, as it was nothing surprisingly, because he is known as good 3 pointer, so he and Lewis are now clinched participating in the 2nd round.

Image 24

Mike Bibby from Sacramento Kings scored 24 points and also clinched the participating in the 2nd round, leaving Nowitzki, Duhon and Davis waiting for not succesfully shots from others.

Image 20

Sharpshooter from Atlanta Hawks Joe Johnson scored 20 points, so celebrating going to other round, the fact that was not surprising. So 4 participants are known for now.

Image 13

Very well known sniper from Milwaukee Michael Redd was going to shoot his shots, and probably there was no chance for Nowitzki and others, but he made only 13, so the tiebraker is coming between Nowitzki and Davis.

Tiebraker:

Image 4

Dirk Nowitzki made only 4 shots, so he was not hoping for participating in next round.

Image 3

Baron Davis has made only 2 shots, including one with money ball, so 3 points from him, so Nowitzki is going further.

Photo Gallery from the 1 round:

2 ROUND

Image 23

In the 2nd round Dirk Nowizki has settled in and scored 23 points, so he is real candidate for the final shootout. Dirk is waiting for other shooters.

Image 13

The poor performance by Joe Johnson prevented him from participating in the fianal shootout, only 13 points from him, so another strong candidate is falling.

Image 24

Cuttino Mobley scored 24 points, so he is almost in the final round, just hoping that none of other shooters won't outrun Nowitzki.

Image 17

Another real candidate Mike Bibby fell down, when he made only 17 points, not enough for participating in the next round.

Image 17

Only Rashard Lewis could have outrun Dirk and Cuttino, because he scored 28 points in the first, but now he only with 17 points, so Dirk Nowitzki and Cuttino Mobley will fight for the best sniper in the league.

Photo Gallery from the 2nd round:
ImageImageImageImageImage

3 ROUND

Image 19

Dirk Nowitzki was first in the final round, because he made less shots than Mobley in the second, so now he scored 19 points, such letting to feel that the score will not enough for the champion. The only one ability is waiting.

Image 27

WOW Cuttino Mobley not only outran Nowitzki, but even scored 27 points, so he is the winner of 3 point shootout. Dirk Nowitzki congrated Cuttino and wished him good luck at the season, also celebrating his 2nd position at this shootout.

Nope, I let computer to play with all participants, so I was surprised that Howard won this contest. Although Howard is a Maverick, I think that Iguodala should have won this :)

Kobe Bryant was anounced as the player of the ALL-STAR game

Here is the game of All-Star Weekend in Houston. All participants were introduced at the start of the game, but the most applauds gave Tracy McGrady from the Houston Rockets, the capital of this year All-Star weekend.

The game was exciting, the score was changing a bit, in the first quarter Western All Stars took the lead 22 : 8 with the most help of Kevin Garnett, who scored 21 points and grabbed 2 rebounds, but later the game controll was held by East. They demostrated amazing dunks, especially by both O'Neals, Shaq had 14 points and 7 rebounds, while Jermaine scored 20 points and grabbed team high 8 rebounds. EAST was leading at the middle of 2nd quarter 41 : 36, but then Tracy McGrady has shown all his bests to the home crowd - 14 points from him, and the score at the half was 61 : 58 for the WEST.

In the first minutes of 3rd half Eastern All Stars even led the score with few dunks by Carter, who scored his only 4 points at the first of this quarter. Later Kobe Bryant showed that he is the leader of Western team and begin to demonstrate great dunks, and his layups was accurate, he scored team high 26 points, also had 6 assists and grabbed 2 rebounds. The score was increasing quickly and by the end of this quarter the score was 91 : 75 for the WEST. Later East team was tring to catch the opponents with the help of Stephon Marbury's layups, who had team high 22 points and assisted 2 balls to the teammates. Need to mention other players from this game: Joe Johnson had 11 points, LeBron James - 9, Paul Pierce - 7, other Stars had less points. From the WESTERN team Brand had 15 points and 6 rebounds and shot some important shots from the field at the last minute of the game. 48 POINTS - NOT THE KEY TO THE VICTORY
Dallas Mavericks celebrated a victory over Nash's Suns in an offensive style.

DALLAS MAVERICKS 115 : 112 PHOENIX SUNS
Image
Steve Nash had 48 points, but his team lost to Dallas and Dirk Nowitzki, who had 40 points

[ Mavericks Boxscore ]
[ Suns Boxscore ]

This was the match between Western conference teams which going towards good results this year, Dallas had 14-6 record, while Phoenix 13 - 5. The game started without defence, so it was obvious that will be high-scoring game.

Steve Nash had an unbelievable game this night, he managed to score 48 points and dominated against all Mavericks frouncourt. Dirk Nowitzki and Theo Ratliff were not able to stop him. Although he scored 48 points, he has't had a lot of assists, only 2. Dirk Nowitzki also had amazing night with 40 points, 5 rebounds, 4 blocks and 2 assists, that made him player of this game. Nowitzki was the main player of the Mavericks, but there were more players with the double digits at Mavericks than at Suns.

Amare Stoudemire played not very effective, but that was because his injury, that caused him to miss more than 4 months. He scored 8 points, but helped very well at defense - 6 blocks and 9 rebounds from him. One crazy thing that Shawn Marion had't points at all. His 4 quick fauls didn't let to play before the half, but after the half he was passive and didn't help Suns to fight against Nowitzki.

The end of the game was thrilling. At the remaining about 2 minutes the score was tied 106 : 106, then team leaders Nash and Nowitzki scored some points for their teams, but the most important points were made by Nowitzki at 39 seconds left, when he made a shot with the fault. He made a free throw also and increased the lead by 3. Nash missed the layup and then Suns started to stop Mavericks sending them to free throw line. So they made all free throws and celebrated a victory 115 : 112!

Need to mention Jerry Stackhouse and Devin Harris from the Mavericks, who had 18 and 12 points from the bench. Marquis Daniels and Josh Howard played quite good, having 13 and 12 points, also 6 assists from Daniels. From the Suns team need to mention James Jones who had 13 points from the bench.
