Whoa... and here I was about to flame you for making a shit thread. This really is a bit of a blockbuster.

I think Minnesota get the most out of this trade really. They only lose like 3 players but they get some fairly capable depth in return.

TNT - Wally Szczerbiak, Michael Olowokandi and Dwayne Jones have been dealt to Boston for Ricky Davis, Mark Blount, Justin Reed and Marcus Banks.

Why did the Twolves trade Wally?? He's having a spectular year! So is Ricky for the Celtics. I actually prefer Blount over Kandi and Marcus Banks is gonna be pretty good in the future.

but let's not get too excited about this. as we all know, this comes from realgm.

I just read that Minnesota threw in a 1st rounder and Boston gave two 2nd rounders... suddenly I don't like this trade as much.

man, Wally for Davis?? i don't think Davis can make up for Wally's presense. Though they at least got rid of Olawankandi(however you spell that). Interesting trade... that's all i can say.

Yea Wally is underrated right now. 20ppg, 50%fg, 40%3ptfg, and 90%ft. We also got their first rounder which is good.

Why do I like this trade? For a few reasons. For starters we simply just needed a change. The team wasn't winning and it seems like we just didn't have the right combination of players. It's really sad to see Wally go because he was great here and he had a lot of great moments. He is a great player and I wish him the best of luck in Boston. He is a great guy. Wally has improved a lot on all phases of the game, but he still struggles defensively and struggles against better defenders. We have enough jump shooters, we need a guy who can get to the basket and penetrate and Ricky Davis is that. He is like a younger verision of Latrell Sprewell, and we all know how well we did with the old Sprewell. However, I think as a player Ricky Davis brings more to table and we get more depth with Marcus Banks and Mark Blount.

Why do I support Mark Blount? He can hit the open jumper and when Kevin Garnett on the team he'll get a lot of open jump shots. I really haven't seen that much of Mark Blount, but I'm sure I'll get frustrated with him soon. But I'll take him and his huge contract over Olowokandi.

Some people are saying why do the Timberwolves need Marcus Banks since we already have Marko Jaric, Troy Hudson and Anthony Carter. I think we need him because Marko Jaric is better suited to play off the ball. He struggles guarding the quicker point guards and he is a better defender against 2 guards and the 3's. With Banks on the roster, Jaric can play more off the ball along with Hudson. Dwane Casey likes running the small line-up so I don't think he'll have a problem working these players into the rotation.

The one problem I have with this trade is the trading of Dwayne Jones. He was dominating the d-league on the boards and I think he will be a solid player in the NBA some day. I wish him the best of luck in Boston, as well.

Overall, I think this team made us a better team but that really isn't saying much. It will be interesting to see how Ricky Davis, Mark Blount and the other new players fit in with Garnett and the other Timberwolves. I'm looking forward to seeing Ricky Davis in a Timberwolves jersey, I know Kevin McHale has been after him for years. It's time to see Ricky Davis turn it up. He's ready to RUN WITH THE WOLVES!!!

Just saw it in Sportcenter, it's official. But c'mon, what is Boston thinking?
Let's try to analyze this:
Wally and Ricky Davis- both teams: (Y) (seems pretty good since they are both having good years)

Kandi and Blount- Boston: (N) Minny: (Y) (I'll take Blount over Kandi anyday. Blount really improved his offensive game the last few years)

Dwayne Jones and Marcus Banks: Boston: (N) (Y) (not sure, haven't seen this guy play yet) Minny: (Y) (haven't seen Jones play, but Banks is clearly becoming a good solid player)

Riot

Im letting you know this, you know how players usually put powder on their hands for grip? Well Blount uses melted butter...LoL seriously hes not the best catcher. But Banks FUCK im gonna miss him. Hes SOOOOOO quick and pressures SOOOOO good. Reed is a decent defender, and Ricky is playing great. Im gonna miss him. But Im welcoming Wally, the best KRACKA in Boston since Larry Bird (i think??)

Don't forget that Minny also gets Justin Reed

And doesn't Olowokandi's contract run out at the end of the season?

Damn, they weren't kidding when they said things would start happening once Artest got moved!

I could be an idiot since i don't follow either team all that much, but didn't Boston just get robbed blind? Wallyworld & Kandiman? Wally is going to be making $13M through 2009.

Wally Szczerbiak is a great player and Michael Olowokand is expiring, plus Boston got a nice player in Dwayne Jones (AMAZING REBOUNDER) and a first round pick. I would not say it was a robbery but I hope Minnesota got the better end. It is tough to say.

Ah i missed that about the 1st round pick, it makes a lot more sense. They must think the TWolves are REALLY going to tank to lose Davis.

With Davis & Blount gone the Celts lost 32.4 ppg ....
