I have ordered a couple of All star games off Pontel in the past and was very happy with my purchases, but i was just wondering how i go about ordering memorable games from the past. I remember (i think) Andrew mentioning that he got some old games of MJ where he scored big. As far as i can see on the site you can't order regular season games from any further back than 2000. Does anyone know how to find a list of memorable games (such as the Jordan comeback game where he dropped 55 on the Knicks at Madison, or 63 on Bird and the Celtics in the playoffs) for sale on Pontel?
Any help would be appreciated.

Email Pontel, they can send you a list of classic games available for purchase. It can get pretty expensive, but for me, it's worth it.

When you say expensive, how much are you talking about? $50+ for a tape?
Thanks for the quick reply by the way.

$25AUS per tape, or thereabouts. Some tapes have two games on them (most of the playoffs tapes, excluding Finals games).

Thanks compadre, appreciated.
When you said it can be quite expensive i thought you were saying that classic game tapes were more expensive than the standard $25 tapes. 25 bucks for two games (including postage) is a frigging bargain if you ask me.
Cheers

I had that list emailed to me quite a while ago, and it had some pretty awesome stuff on there. Who knows one day I'll bite the bullet and spend the money. Lucky Andrew, he has to spend the money because all those videos are part of his Media Studies degree!

No, no, no, my "Media Studies" gives me time to watch them - my multi-million dollar contract with the NLSC allows me to buy them.

I'm gonna get this digital tv where I get espn classic (i think/hope) and see games like that all the time. I saw the game where jerry west made the 70 foot 3 when i was at a club med in florida.

That would be nice...unfortunately, my only option at present is Pontel. Still not a bad option to have.

We don't normally get any classic games on ESPN in Australia but the other day they had extended highlights of the game where the Lakers (with Wilt and Jerry West) lost to the Bucks (with the Big O and Kareem) to end their record setting 33 game winning streak.
It was pretty cool if anyone got a chance to catch it. If any of my fellow Aussies want to see a list of what classic games are available for Australian customers from pontel just tell me here and i will post the list.

Jonesy - not ESPN, ESPN Classic, ESPN Classic shows nothing but old basketball, football, baseball, and other sports game/competitions (thinking of competitions, maybe dunk contests, that'd be sweet.)

I don't think ESPN Classic is available in Australia - at least not in any of the basic packages that Foxtel/Austar offer. I could be wrong though.
Just out of interest Jonsey, you mentioned that you ordered from Pontel before - don't they ever send you notices about special offers, etc? They come with complete listings of the classic games that are available. Plus, it also lets you know when they have their usual buy 4, get one free, buy 8, get two free etc deal going.

What about the buy 12 get 3 free and the buy 16 get 4 free sales Andrew?
Wed May 28, 2003 4:55 pm
I've bought 12, received 3 free a couple of times, but I've never really had the cash to spare, to go for that 4th free video.
Wed May 28, 2003 10:17 pm
when do these deals happen
Wed May 28, 2003 11:17 pm
Andrew you spent $300 on videos? That must be a huge deal you signed with the NLSC. Damn, the boy signs a huge deal and now he's spending up big! How much do you tip when you go to restaurants?

That was insightful.
I've ordered some videos from Pontel as well, and it was great, fast, and I got a list with the tapes which showed their current catalog. Perhaps you didn't get it, but that's the way I knew about their offers. You could always email them if you haven't already.

I've ordered in the past but i've never received any info on special offers or which classic games you can get. Maybe you have to be in the special "buy 12 tapes or over" group to get that type of stuff.
Colin, i know the difference between the two but as espn classic is not available anywhere in Australia (nor will be available anytime soon - i asked them) i was only bringing up the fact that i had seen an espn classic type show on the normal espn channel.
