Poll ended at Tue Feb 21, 2006 1:12 am

Definitely. I've got good money on this.

Yep. And they'll die and run out of gas in the playoffs.

They won't. They don't have a superstar who can close out games.

Detroit wins 70?

Fri Jan 27, 2006 1:12 am

What do you guys think?

Fri Jan 27, 2006 1:13 am

I hope they do, but I don't know. I think they might end up in the late 60s.

Fri Jan 27, 2006 2:26 am

It's looking good for them, but I honestly don't think that they will make it. They can only afford to lose seven games in fourtytwo games. I really don't think that they're up to it yet.

Uh, they just lost 5 out of 40...

Fri Jan 27, 2006 4:37 am

Yeah, They'll make it.
I doubt that they'll loose more than 10 games.
Which would be amazing.

No shit, but I think that they will struggle more to achieve 34 wins out of the last 42 than 35 wins out of the first 40.

Fri Jan 27, 2006 6:41 am

They're not going to make it. They will not go the entire year without injuries.

Fri Jan 27, 2006 6:57 am

They had an incredible streak without injuries actually.

I don't think they'll make it, not because they lack a superstar - they don't need one, they have a strong team - but because along the way, chances are they'll hit a slide or two.

Fri Jan 27, 2006 7:06 am

Their going to be like the COlts, Did great until the end and lost 2 games. THen in the playoffs they choked. They will get the 70+ wins but will be eliminated in the Finals by the Suns :P

Fri Jan 27, 2006 8:17 am

i don't think they'll make it. if history's an indication, they'll encounter a 2 game losing streak somewhere down the line. in addition, they play teams that have beaten them before -- cleveland (3 more times) and dallas. plus, there have been teams that have brought them to the edge such as milwaukee. and lets not forget about the suns (who will have amare back by then), the clippers and maybe indiana. their first half of the season is way more favourable than the 2nd half.. it's hard to imagine seeing them go 37-5 all in the way. in fact, i dont want them to. :x

Fri Jan 27, 2006 9:25 am

i think they will do it

Fri Jan 27, 2006 10:10 am

I want to say they wont but I dont agree with the superstar part so I will pass on voting.
If there was a maybe option then I might have picked that one. :)

I think they will come very close but thats about it.

Fri Jan 27, 2006 10:49 am

hey, perhaps this team won't sustain any injuries, ever thought of that? This group of starters has missed a combined 26 games since they've been together. They are in great condition, and believe it or not, Ben Wallace has been playing through an injury.

As long as they get #1 seed i'll be happy, championship is all that matters.

Fri Jan 27, 2006 12:34 pm

more than 60, less than 70.
I don't think it's so important for any team to get to 70, as long they make the play-offs, they could care less. I don't expect them to play their best in the last strech of the season.

Fri Jan 27, 2006 12:37 pm

I saw a comparison chart to the Bulls 72 season, apparentely at the moment Detroit are 2 or 3 losses behind the Bulls were at the same point in the season.

Fri Jan 27, 2006 1:44 pm

It's looking more likely as their great run has continued, but I think they'll stumble a bit in the second half of the year.

Just a thought...when the Bulls won 72-10 a lot of former players and some analysts made a big deal about expansion watering down the league in an attempt to downplay the accomplishment. Another team has since been added...I wonder if the same assessment will be made if the Pistons come close to, match or surpass the Bulls' feat?

Fri Jan 27, 2006 1:46 pm

I think it's unpossible

Fri Jan 27, 2006 2:37 pm

unpossible??? what's the meaning of that word jugs. :D anyways i think they'll get 69-13..

Fri Jan 27, 2006 3:11 pm

They wont make it, but they will get extremely close.
They still have to play Cavs three times, Miami three also, Phoenix with Amare back, alot of tough games..which I thing will get them more than 10 losses for the season.

Fri Jan 27, 2006 3:17 pm

I'm gonna have to say they do make merely based on the fact that very very weird and wonderful things have happened this season.

Fri Jan 27, 2006 4:17 pm

ya'll acting like Miami & Cavs are some great teams here, they are barely over 55% wins.

Fri Jan 27, 2006 4:29 pm

Maybe they will have guaranteed the division title and 1st seeding and play Darko! And then, instead of going for 70 wins, they will be getting the starters a lot of rest in April!

And besides, I can count on these teams to beat the Pistons:

New Jersey twice
Clippers
Miami
Cleveland Twice
Washington Twice
Milwaukee at the end of the season

So yeh... I'm hoping they lose to the teams above... then they wont reach 70 wins!

Fri Jan 27, 2006 4:41 pm

you need another option... i picked the middle one, it isnt definate, but they wont run out of gas in the playoffs

they dont need superstars to win games, thats just fucking stupid. they didnt have ONE superstar in the last 3 seasons (this one included) and theyre doing excellent.
a champion team will always beat a team of champions

Miami, with no injuries, will be a tough game for Detroit, and Cleveland are 1-0 against Detroit this season.

Fri Jan 27, 2006 4:57 pm

They won't. They don't have a superstar who can close out games.

I think its better, they have 4 guys who can all finish. That means, they don't have 1 guy who the opponent can shut down in close games.
