I was just wonder, does anyone know if TMacs going to retire because of his back? Maybe at the end of this contract?

The mans 26, and he's gonna have a nice loooong offseason this year to heal so I doubt he'll retire anytime soon.

Why would he retire, he makes 16 million and when he's contract runs out, he'll make at least another 10+ million regardless of his back, it's not even that bad, he can still play through it.

He should wait till his back is fully healed until he plays. And ofcourse he isn't going to retire soon, way too early, he will probably when he is 30 or 32.

One injury doesn't mean a player should be retiring.

As Grant Hill proved , you do not always need to retire because of your injury bugs. Especially when your less then 30 . Grant Hill was older then T-mac when he got his injury problems , and hes still playing . Bottom line is , T-mac won't retire unless he winds up getting paralyzed.

I dont think 1 playoff series would quench his thirst.

I must admit, I'm not a doctor and I don't pretend to be an expert on sports medicine or much else medical for that matter. But I'm guessing if his back was really that bad that it was forcing him into retirement, he wouldn't be playing at the level he's at...I doubt he'd be even playing at all right now.

Consider the back injury Pippen suffered in 1998 and the tail end of Larry Bird's career. No doubt McGrady suffers from his ailing back and it affects his game and he's missed a notable amount of games because of it, but he seems to be going along a little too well at the moment to suggest he's close to retiring. Of course as I said that's speculation based on past history and no background in medicine, but generally speaking players with injuries that severe are really hampered by them.

True. But as with Larry Legend, the injury accelerated his decline from the top of the league.

sure he is not one of the elite players right now but if he healed properly and came back full strength next year, who would want to face him
