So what do you guys think of Steph and KG getting back together? And if it happens... who's going where? I say Steph should go to Mnny!
NEW YORK -- Would a reunion between Stephon Marbury and Kevin Garnett be enticing? Garnett said yes, and Marbury agrees. The only question is where?
When told that Garnett said in an interview with the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that he would love to reunite with Marbury in Minnesota, Marbury said he'd like to see it happen, too -- only in New York.
"For him to come here," Marbury said, "that would be beautiful. That would be the best thing ever."
Of course wanting to reunite with his former teammate and having it happen are two separate things. The Timberwolves may end up trading Garnett if things continue to go south in Minnesota.
Despite the common perception that Marbury and Garnett have a frosty relationship, they spoke affably before their game Monday at the Garden, and Garnett brought up Marbury's name twice unsolicited in Boston on Wednesday.
"It'd be interesting," Garnett said of a reunion. "I wouldn't oppose it. I have no beef with Steph. ... Yeah, I'd welcome Steph. I don't think Steph will come back to Minnesota, though. But I mean, New York's cold, New Jersey's cold. Who knows, man? We all mature and get older."
Garnett was asked about the possibility of him going to the Knicks, and wasn't very enthusiastic.
"I'm not New York, man," he told the paper. "I'm a Timberwolf at heart, man. But to have Steph back in 'Sota, that would be some crazy. That would be hot. That would revive the city."
Garnett and Marbury played together during Marbury's 2 1/2 seasons in Minnesota at the beginning of Marbury's career, from 1996-99.
Marbury sat out last night, his second missed game in a row, because of his sprained left shoulder, and his status is uncertain for tomorrow's game against the Hornets.
Coach Larry Brown said Marbury's shoulder was much improved, as was his range of motion. But there is still some pain in the shoulder resulting from his violent collision with Wally Szczerbiak on Monday.
Brown said he would leave it up to Marbury as to when he will return. If he skips tomorrow's game, the Knicks don't play again until Wednesday, which would give Marbury eight full days to recover.

Marbury would be alright at Minnesota, he can play PG and Jaric can play SG
Sat Jan 21, 2006 12:42 pm
Jaric should some out of their bench at PG IMO.
Hassel is playing real good D while can provide some (tiny) little sparks on offense.
added that they also have a rookie SG.

funny how if he had stuck around im willing to bet minny's history would be completely different, as well as people's perception of him.... both much for the better. oh well.

magnius, maybe the same could be said for VC and Tmac?
Sat Jan 21, 2006 1:16 pm
There is no way that Tmac and Vince could have played together, their egos were just too big.
Sat Jan 21, 2006 1:18 pm
If they learnt to set their egos aide... well, I know I can't speak lol... looking at Shaq and Kobe... And other different places, it could never happen I guess. Luckily for Tmac, Yao is soft! lol

I have mixed feelings about Stephon. On one side, I want him here because I want to see Da Kidz back together and improve the team. However, on the other side I am still pissed off that he couldn't keep his ego in check and demanded a trade. Plus, Marbury is a whiner and recently called out Wally Szczerbiak. Last year he called Kevin Garnett a loser. He said Kevin Garnett reminded him of Mario Ellie.
I'd rather have Steve Francis.

Steve Francis is no long term solution.

aren't they about the same??? ballhogging combo guards that are trapped in a point guards body.

Nah, Marbury should play PG, and Garnett play SG.

And Hudson at C

I on the other hand think that TMac and Vince could have pulled it together... But I think that Toronto pretty sealed the deal on TMac leaving when their coahces said TMac won't be playing in the NBA after his 4 year rookie contract.
Vince and TMac are cousins after all so I believe they would have worked it out...
Marbury is still more of a shooter than a passer... He needs more time with LB to get his act together... Just like Billups. Billups was a serious journeyman and a scorer before he learned from LB. So there's still hope for Stephon...
But I can't see Stephon to Minny or Garnett to NY trade happening... Since Minny won't give up on Wally... So they've got the pieces they've got and will take it from there...

If you were Isiah, would you give up Frye in a trade for KG?
Sat Jan 21, 2006 9:07 pm
i dont think the problem in toronto has ever been coexistence. its only reasonably that americans would rather play in america if given a choice. it would be different if toronto could offer more money and fame, but they can't.
i think marbury > francis, but i wouldnt give up sczerbiak unless i had too, he gets too little credit for his shooting prowess. yes, if i were isiah i'd give up frye for garnett, but garnett doesnt want to go so whats the point. i like the idea of a marbury hassell szerbiak backcourt, but i dont know how they could acquire marbury with anyone else. maybe somone like nene would be more valuable to minny right now or pj brown.

Frye is/will be a poor man's Bosh (who is a poor man's KG) at his best. I take KG over his potential anytime. He would perfectly complement Curry's inside presence and his passing skills and general unselfishness would be a good complement for Marbury. LB would rape him if he wouldn't give up the ball.

Not really. Bosh can rebound.

Great idea!
Actually, KG has the skills and everything to play at a guard position. He certainly would be a tough matchup.
Sun Jan 22, 2006 12:05 pm
hudson would be a toughie at c...
Sun Jan 22, 2006 1:18 pm
Yeah and he can shoot the 3s and pass once in a while
What an all-round C
Sun Jan 22, 2006 7:27 pm
But no rebounding and definitely no defense.
Mon Jan 23, 2006 1:20 am
But definitely a mismatch

Again?

No kidding, his natural position is point guard.
Everyone knows that.
