Washington Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the Washington Wizards and guard Chucky Atkins have agreed to a buyout of Atkins’ contract.

What does a buyout mean?

Chucky Atkins is no longer a Wizard, because they payed him the rest of the money they owe him.

Thu Jan 19, 2006 2:02 pm

Ah I thought so (that's bullshit, I know i had no idea)

Thu Jan 19, 2006 2:02 pm

I wonder what he will do now.

Thu Jan 19, 2006 2:08 pm

He's mighty welcome back in Detroit, although i think he wants to be a starter somewhere, or get some more PT.

Perhaps Memphis, hell Lakers could use his services.

Thu Jan 19, 2006 2:09 pm

I think a team that needs a shooter will pick him up. He isn't a great passer, but can nail a couple of outside shots and mid rangers every game.

Thu Jan 19, 2006 2:19 pm

he'll probably end up goin to europe to play or something

Thu Jan 19, 2006 2:29 pm

Chucky Atkins sucks. Period. Undersized, can't pass, can't play defence, and is said to be very arrogant.

Thu Jan 19, 2006 2:48 pm

he played alright when he was at the lakers

Thu Jan 19, 2006 2:50 pm

Because the Lakers sucked.

Thu Jan 19, 2006 2:51 pm

haha chunky went bye bye...
oh well. he'll probably head back to the pistons?
i say go to europe or perhaps a minor league stint in the cba or aba?

he wouldnt get on the court if he went to the Pistons, they barely use their bench as it is

He'd be a great fit in Denver or Memphis. Though I don't know how George Karl could fit in another guard, they could definetly use his outside shooting.

Also, Miami would be a good fit too. The Heat could use some 3pt shooting off the bench.

A team that wants a veteran player but doesn't necessary run an offense that needs the pg to be a playmakers or the primary ballhandler, hmm.

sounds like LA... lamar can control the ball ( or cleveland)

Thu Jan 19, 2006 5:14 pm

maybe memphis could take a look... i think they are in need of a point guard

Thu Jan 19, 2006 5:28 pm

wtf? Chucky Atkins is an NBA player, not Europe or CBA. If Sasha Vujacic can play in the NBA then Atkins certainly can.

Thu Jan 19, 2006 6:15 pm

Noooooo.....I do not want Atkins back....NEVER!

Vujacic can actually play D. Chucky can't.

Thu Jan 19, 2006 10:14 pm

Vujacic barely gets to play for the Lakers

Thu Jan 19, 2006 10:52 pm

How many players who doesnt play defense are in the NBA? It's not that everyone plays better D than Chucky... :?

I'm not a big fan of him, but I'll go Jae on you:

He's playing 18.6 minutes per game and is the first guard off the bench for the Lakers. He won't score much, but with time he'll make a great shooter off the bench, plus he has legit playmaking abilities and can play pesky defence.
