girls as bestfriends = a big no no

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

its natural to develop feelings for a girl thats your good friend. as long as you keep it to yourself that you dont want to mess the relation up and keep it strictly a best friend relationship.

on a side note, which situation is it easier to fall for a friend thats a girl, a girl that is a best friend, or a girl that has a "brother sister" (not by blood) kind of relationship with you?

Usually, I develop feelings for girls that I become close friends of mine as well. Unless of course they're ugly  I think it has happened twice in high school. I didn't act on anything on the first one but the second one didn't end up well. At that time, she was supposedly in love with this other guy so I didn't do anything but one day she just told me she was falling for me and whatnot. This got me all confused and we rarely have contact now in college and last time we saw each other I felt uncomfortable around her :(

Your mom doesn't count.

Does your mom count?

you raise a valid point.

If my best friend was a chick i'd be cool as long as she didnt harass me on the phone with stupid bullshit.

I've got a lot of friends that are girls that I think are attractive, but don't have feelings for. The thought may cross my mind from time to time, but I'm a 16-year-old guy. So all the hotties at my school have crossed through my mind that way.

And on Riot's comment about high school girls. I'll send a big-up you way. A lot of girls my age are ditzes (plural of ditz?) and morons who get drunk every weekend 'dancing' to D4L's incessant requests for them to 'shake that laffy taffy.' I've been lucky enough to meet a bunch of very nice young women who have a head on their shoulders, and their shoulder on a very nice body. ;) Including one I talk a weak game of politics with. Although a few of them still come to me with their bs highschool 'relationship' problems. But I just give them the truth, remind them ho silly a lot of their comments sound, and then they say thanks.

I've got some attractive female friends, I'm best friends with a girl I made in first grade, naturally then we weren't best friends, more the hi, pinch & run away type. But over the course of around 11 years, we've grown pretty close. We went out for a year or two, but then decided to part ways. (In other words, she dumped my sorry ass.)

I was all sad and stuff...then I started dating her best friend. :cheeky:

Anyways, she's this church going type so she's like the opposite of everything that is me. If I am negative, she is positive, if I am mad, she's chirpy, we balance eachother out I'd like to think.

But yeah, having girls as friends isn't that difficult, just accept what comes your way, if it's meant for you to date her, it'll happen, if not, be happy with what you've got. :) A friendship.

I'm just naturally nice to literally anyone, so I tend to do the little "nice" things like hold the door open or let someone get in front of me in line at the store. High School chicks don't really care when you do that stuff.

7th or 8th graders don't, but at least in my country, after that the majority find courtesy a very appealing value.

 I'm not in 7th or 8th grade. I'm talking about 11th/12th grade chicks. You know, the chicks that will be out in the real world in a year or two.

Yeah, but girls over here do like people like that. They girls in the USA are different :P

I have girls as friends, but not as best.

(Y) The only exception is my girlfriend, I consider her my best friend.

One of my best friends is a girl, and I think it works if you both know where you stand. We've spent enough time with each other that we can spend downtime without doing or saying anything and be comfortable.

Here's a quote (I don't know who it's from) that's quite relevant, if a bit sappy:

"A guy and girl can be friends. But eventually, they will fall in love. Maybe for a short while, maybe at the wrong time. Or maybe forever."
The task of the artist is to translate for us the essence of things we take for granted.

I try to go by that too. Sometimes you get a 'thanks' and a nice smile, sometimes it's 'thanks' with no eye contact, and sometimes it's that bitch Natalia you completely disregards it.
