That could hapeen but if it goes to a point guard it will probally go to AI.

MVP largely depends on a team's record too, so the team needs to be pretty much in the top 5 of the league.

Which is why Kobe and AI aren't going to get it.

 That flew past my head, thanks for pointing that out. I guess we can narrow it down even more then.

I have a feeling Billups or Baron.

Wed Jan 11, 2006 3:00 pm

Baron's not doing that good and his team is the 8th seed in the West.

Look at his stats... they're good.

And for Golden State to have an 8th seed is more than good enough team success... considering the Warriors haven't been to the playoffs in 11 yrs.

Wed Jan 11, 2006 4:01 pm

his stats are good but his shot selection is bordering on insanity.

VC can make a serious bid for MVP, it all depends on NJ's record. They'd have to get 48+ for him to be seriously considered.

Vince > Baron
Billups > all
Billups = MVP material

little math lesson

yeh carter is my pick!

If it were between Vince & Kobe though, Vince has Kidd & Jefferson...doesn't that have some sort of effect on his "worthiness" for the MVP?

Besides, he isn't even the MVP on that team. Yeah, he scores in bunches but the most valuable player is still Kidd.

Great point Jackal... But then Billups has Rip, Tayshaun, Sheed and Ben... So he's not the candidate right? :P

billups is the best player, on the best team.
his stats are alot better than the players you mentioned, sheed and prince arent really doing all that well

You have to be Kidding (no pun intented of course). Jason Kidd does make subpar players on his team look really good (googs, rex chapman, kenyon martin, jimmy jackson etc), but he hasnt really helped Vince. Vince isnt a catch and shoot kind of guy. He creates his own shot... so kind is kind of useless to him.

Vince does deserve MVP consideration... I wonder why people didnt think sam cassel was the mvp earlier on if they were going on last years logic with steve nash :proud:.

J-Kidd gives Carter leadership and someone to look up to as a leader, but yea, I agree with you that J-Kidd doesn't really help him otherwise as much as he might help someone else, say Richard Jefferson.

You're right, but Carter actually is pretty good as a catch and shoot guy too, just that teams don't really play off him and give him those shots. They make each other better actually, Carter also get's Kidd open shots, and Kidd finds him for some easy baskets too. Kidd has shot his best percentages from outside in the last 6 years last season and this season.

Thu Jan 12, 2006 9:01 am

It's kind of like Steve Nash making his teammates better, like how Jason Kidd is doing for his team. Carter didn't really have a good point guard in Toronto, and he didn't exactly kick ass in those last couple seasons there, so Kidd is a big factor.

Thu Jan 12, 2006 9:25 am

Well that was also part of his decision, he actually didn't do bad in 03-04 considering that Raptors took like 10 shots a game, played so slowly and had a pretty ugly supporting cast in the beginning of the year, than later it was hurt because of injuries and us needing Michael Curry to win.

Thu Jan 12, 2006 9:26 am

Come to think of it, Carter never really had a pass-first point guard that was starter material in Toronto. Alvin Williams was a shooting guard that was forced to be a point guard and Jalen Rose... Well, that was a terrible move. Aside from Mark Jackson (who was traded halfway through his first season as a Raptor), Carter never really had a good point guard to give him the ball, although it isn't really an excuse for him sucking his past few seasons in Toronto.

Thu Jan 12, 2006 9:57 am

He was just unhappy in his last seasons in toronto. Fans should learn to appreciate players when they bust their balls out there on the court instead of criticisng them (like 2002, the season after Vince's great playoff run.. then he gets injured and the backlash began).

Thu Jan 12, 2006 12:35 pm

Yea right........Without JKidd, VC is not nearly as good. He cannot create his own shot at all unless he calls for an ISO (Isolation) play.

Thu Jan 12, 2006 12:36 pm

I hope that was sarcastic Shaun.
