when does it end some people say this summer but in nba live 06 it says he has 2 years on his contract
Thu Dec 29, 2005 9:02 am
There's probably some who wish it didn't run another season.

i wonder who's more stupid- the team that initially gave Rose that big contract (inidiana) or the team that traded for Rose with several years left on that contract (most recently toronto)

Allan Houston with the second highest salary.... LOL, what we're they smoking...

Definitely Toronto. Indiana were able to get rid of him and benefited greatly from the deal, easily making up for the blunder.

babCOCK is dumb. Period.

yep i'd have to agree with that though at the time i think a lot of people at this forum thought toronto got a great deal getting donyell marshall & jalen rose

Yeah, but I'm inclined to see how he does these days. He finally did some good with Villenauva and Graham, and we do have a nice foundation for the future.
Thu Dec 29, 2005 2:19 pm
And I was one of them, it really did seem like they were giving up a lot (though I wouldn't mind if the Bulls had Marshall at the moment). But given their record against Toronto since the trade and the fact they made the Playoffs last year it hasn't looked all that bad since.
Thu Dec 29, 2005 2:49 pm
Grunwald was in extreme denial. He wouldn't let us rebuild because he thought we were still a playoff team after those few years of success, and hence, we took on some big contracts.
Kevin O'Neill was also a very defensive minded coach and we lacked a lot of offence that season, so this seemed like Rose and Marshall would be a good fit. We went on a 5 game winning streak and we looked like we could make the playoffs after the trade. I guess you know what happened to Vince Carter afterwards, which really took away our chances big time.
Also, Alvin Williams, Rose and Bosh missed some games too, so we went from being a playoff team to a bottom dweller.

So you think keeping Antonio Davis and Jerome Wiliams was better than getting Rose and Marshall? Marshall did a great job after he got trade to toronto, even though he didn't stay this year, he did much more than what AD and JYD can do. Rose is still contributing to the team, while AD and JYD are doing almost nothing (one of them is forced to retire by the NYK, and the other is just collecting pay checks from the NYK, ironically). I think the trade was good, nothing great, but better than no trade.

Rose is still contributing to the team
Are you joking? He hasn't done anything remotely worthy of 16 million. At least last year he could score, this year he's just not doing anything on the court. Oh well, it seemed like a good trade at the beginning, we did win 5 straight after the trade, but it was the injuries that slowed us down that season.
Fri Dec 30, 2005 1:49 am
indiana signed him to that deal, then he went to chicago now unfortunally to toronto
Fri Dec 30, 2005 2:12 am
I believe we went over that already.
Fri Dec 30, 2005 2:41 am
he did much more than what AD and JYD can do
didn't AD become an All-Star in Toronto?
Fri Dec 30, 2005 3:05 am
Yes, he was. Only because Theo Ratliff was injured, and you know how weak the east is in terms of big men.
What he meant was that Davis was struggling at the time, and he was pretty much sick of being in Toronto.

Eric Williams for Korver? Who in their right mind would do that trade?
Fri Dec 30, 2005 7:45 am
Babcock for sure

And Isaiah if he was GM of the Sixers.

yeh what asdf said:

also i'd like to add-
the trade did help immediately but the team saw no immediate returns. they didn't end up making the playoffs. So the risk of taking on those Rose crappy/immovable contract wasn't worth it. And they lost Marshall for nothing.
If they never did that trade- AD could be a mentor to Chris Bosh and also let Bosh slide back to his natural position PF. AD's contract expires this year so he could have been traded and Toronto probably doesn't draft Araujo but drafts Iguodala instead.
And probably JYD is still playing. even when playing for the Bulls, he would wear the Raptor shorts underneath the bulls Uni and he would tell the chicago the media his heart is still in Toronto. his contract sucks but at least it's not in Rose's range of salary. not to mention, JYD is fan fav over there while Rose is just some whiney punk
Fri Dec 30, 2005 8:25 am
No one could have predicted that more than half the starting lineup would be injured, and although Bosh was fatigued by playing center, I think that people were also unaware that it gradually wore him down and take a big as a toll as it did.
Everything else I agree with. Oh how I miss JYD.
Fri Dec 30, 2005 1:46 pm
For 15-16Mil a year, Rose isn't doing anything. babCOCK made the dumbest trade, I mean Carter for 2Williams that suck ass and some other person I forgot. I mean comon, he should've traded VC for Ray Allen in the off-season, I mean Ray Allen even said he didn't mind playing in Toronto.
