Cleveland Cavaliers Thread

Tue Dec 27, 2005 6:11 pm

Well, I think the Cavs deserve to have a thread around here. After losing 3 in a row, the Cavs have been on a 6-game winning streak. Currently 2nd on the East, record-wise, I think they're really on their way to a Playoff Berth. (Y)

Wasnt there already a Cavs thread? Thats hard to believe....

17-9. And the scary part for some, awesome for others, is that they havent even worked each other out properly.

Larry Hughes sucks.

Tue Dec 27, 2005 7:45 pm

Hughes needs to get his acts together because since he came, he hasn't been doing much. He takes too many stupid shots. Lebron vs. Hughes feud in the future? maybe?

Tue Dec 27, 2005 8:24 pm

When LBJ has been cold Hughes hasn't given them that lift. Not to mention that this team can't play defense, with the exception of Eric Snow.

WHO GAVE 10 MILLION PER TO HUGHES???

#1 He was in his contract year.
#2 He is injury prone.
#3 He can't shoot and is just a poor man's LBJ skill- and body-wise. I mean, he's undersized anorexic shooting guard.
#4 He's can't defend 1-on-1 and is only a gambler on D - just like James.

You can't tell me that there was no chance of Joe Johnson coming to Cavs? He would go from the fourth option on offense to being a second and a sidekick who everybody would remember. He is identical to James size-wise (6'8'', 240lbs), he can shoot the lights out, is a decent 1-on-1 defender and can be the teams secondary ball-handler. And as good as Ilgauskas is in this centreless league, he is too old for getting this kind of contracts. If Ferry was smart, he would trade his sorry ass for Frye, Tim Thomas and the picks Bulls got. James wouldn't be able to leave for at least couple of years, so you would have enough time and financial flexibility to turn this team into a contender.

Another thing about Hughes, his defense is overrated. Yes, he can get into passing lanes but other than that, he is an average man defender. I dont even consider him a lockdown defender.

Joe Johnson on the Cavs would bring hell to the east. I wish JJ was a laker.

Larry Hughes is not a great defender, plain and simple. I don't consider him a top 20 defensive player in the league.

Wed Dec 28, 2005 3:20 am

That Ilgauskas deal was plain bad. He can shoot, and sometimes posts up. That's it.....he'd be an ideal 6th man.

This team lacks toughness.

Wed Dec 28, 2005 3:39 am

The only thing about the Cavs I like is Drew Gooden, he's my 2nd favourite Power Forward behind Udonis Haslem

Other than that, I hate the Cavs

You guys think a possible trade of Joe Johnson with L Hudges will be possible?

LBJ.... well, that reminded me of someone else... Riot knows who.

I don't consider the Cavs a championship team. They don't have a good PG and they can't play defense. Detroit would tear them apart (and Indiana too, depending on who they get in return for Artest). I would also rank the Heat above them, since they have similar records and Miami have been without Shaq and Jason Williams for much the season.

Cleveland on a roll winning 6 in a row! :headbang: (Y)

Tue Jan 31, 2006 4:00 pm

Nice sig mikki looks familiar...dats rite, I had the same one about 2 weeks ago..lol

Anyway, Cavs showing some good defensive signs, but I guess we havent played ne high caliber teams, except Phoenix.

Lebron's free-throw shooting is probably scaring Cavs fans right now, isn't it? :|

yessss very much

him missing free throws is getting old

Tue Jan 31, 2006 5:00 pm

they run hot & cold, but they still lack a Reggie Evans type of presence.

Wed Feb 01, 2006 4:11 am

how far do you guys think theyll get into the playoffs??

Thats the whole reason i didnt make one..i thought one existed.

Bron had 5 steals last game..the guy is a monster in all forms.

Bron needs a good PG...perferably one that knows how the share the ball atleast as good as he can. They will free him up to do more scoring..not to mention the rest of his team. If he keeps getting guys like ricky davis and larry hughes he's gonna have problems cause these are regular to all-star type ball hogging scorers who dont know their place. I hope larry can learn to adjust when he comes back.

Considering what happened to them last year...right after the all-star break..im afraid to make predictions. Let's just hope that they make the play-offs.

I think the most suitable sidekick for Lebron right now would be Billups. He's not a ballhog, can run a team, is a superb 3pt shooter and is clutch. Give that team a perimeter stopper, inside toughness and bunch of shooters coming off the bench, and you got yourself a winner. I don't believe Cavs are heading in the right direction, starting with guys they got/resigned in the offseason. As good as Ilgauskas is, he isn't worth 10+ million per, especially if you're building for the future, which you should, considering your main guy is just 21 years old. They would be better off with a Curry type of deal which even wouldn't happen if the Cavs traded Z to Knicks which was the original idea. A trade for Penny and Frye (plus possibly a future first round pick) would make sense. That would basically mean they would trade old for young, future cap relief and a probable lottery pick. And with Z gone, I think Joe Johnson would be more willing to come to Cleveland. He would know that he'd be a second option on that team. I like Damon Jones and Marshall acquisitions, though. They came for relatively small amount of money and they definitely fill a need of long distance shooting. And I wonder if Haslem would came if they threw more money into the mix.

i really hope hughes learns to fit in here,or else i hope they get rid of him as soon as possible, i would love to see kidd in cleveland,(although i know it would never happen), running the fast break with kidd and lebron, maybe helping to build up lebrons confidence, that would be so fun to watch

Wed Feb 01, 2006 6:46 am

fun to watch?...thats an understatement..cause we're talking arguably the best player in the league here..stats wise. I think that would be potentially a finals team...or atleast give detroit a whole lot of trouble

Wed Feb 01, 2006 6:49 am

amazingly fantasticaly super to watch????

Wed Feb 01, 2006 12:13 pm

kidd on that team.... shit, scared the bejizziles out of detroit... put reggie evans and a decent pg like brevin knight on that team and you'll still scare detroit
