What happened to Ginobili?

Did you all watch the Olympics? Sure looked like he was the go-to guy their, and sure looked like he could also run a team...... Straight to the MVP and Gold Medal.

Give the man a break, he is hurt.....Come playoff time he will step his game up, the Spurs will win again! Then to some he will be the overrated European on a Dynasty team.

All I know is the Spurs would not have won in 2003 and 2005 without him.

Yes, I watched the Olympics and let me tell you, he was playing great. Carried the team throughout the tournament.
In 2003, Ginobili was a key sixth-man, almost won the 6th man award too. And last year, 2005, he played great as well.

1) Carlos Arroyo never helped his team win anything in the NBA. (I am pretty sure the Pistons could of won it without him?)
2) Carlos Arroyo wasn't the MVP
3) Carlos Arroyo didn't win the Gold Medal, a matter of fact he didn't even get a medal.
4) Carlos Arroyo is a bench warmer(getting his least amount of minutes in 5 years)

It'd be good if people knew what they were talking about. It looks like ginobili is getting similar praise/criticism to that of what Kobe got when he was winning rings alongside shaq. But Manu has a style that is totally different to any player i can think of with the exception of Toni Kukoc (obviously im talking to offensive skills). They are instant offense and seem to score no matter who is on the floor with them or who is guarding them.

Now I will just contradict myself by asking this: what is the obsession with player comparisons? Why does a player, once they win and they play well, have to be compared to other players? Whether is Shaq being compared to wilt, kobe to jordan, tmac to.. oh wait he hasnt won yet . But why is that even necessary? It's obvious there is no real comparison for Manu. The Wally Sczerbiak call is just as terrible as comparing him to Kobe.

As for the MVP, I feel Robert Horry was the MVP of that series. But you look at Duncan's impact on those Spurs victories. Duncan was swarmed when in the post. Ginobili played Prince great but the pistons werent as fearful of him as they were duncan. That to me speaks volumes as to who the most valuable Spur was out of the two.

Well look at Manu's position, SG, Hamilton is also a SG. Tayshaun would play SF for them because of his lenght and defense, so Manu would be the 6th man on the Pistons.

I would have to agree with you on that one. He would be the only one who could provide instant O off the bench.

He was on the championship team, and if he didn't play then that strengthens my argument even more, that Carlos Arroyo has not helped his team win shit.

i was referring to right now, not the playoffs. Especially since the Pistons run their offense through Rips motion.

While i'm at it...people say Detroit should have drafted Wade, Bosh or Melo. But coming into the team all would have been sitting on the bench and most likely not as good as they are today. Chris Bosh's improvement received a significant boost after VC left.

Carlos Arroyo arrived last season. The season Detroit won they had Mike James & Hunter. Last season it was Arroyo & Hunter. So no, he hasn't won a championship yet.

Manu is as versatile as anyone in the league for his height. I would start him over prince.

Even if he was the 6th man, he would not be warming the bench like arroyo. He would be getting at least 25-30 minutes.

Rasheed wasnt on this team when they made the genius decision not to draft bosh/melo/wade. So Bosh would have been an immediate starter. Wade is in the upper echelon of basketball players in the world, you cant even compare Prince or Hamilton to what Wade can do with the ball in his hands. A backcourt of Wade and Billups would terrorise opposing teams. And Melo isnt that far behind Wade in terms of being a dominant scorer with the ball in his hands.

But Wade wasn't THIS good immediately. Right now he'd start as a Piston, as a rookie he'd be on the bench, and that's where he'd probably still stay.

In Wades first post season he carried the Heat to a series win and 2 victories against a very good Indiana team. His regular season was marred by injuries but had he been in a different situation, he would have been a starter. The Pistons could've gone small as well with both wade and melo, and Prince playing power forward.

I think he's had a slow start this year, of course the injury is a big factor in that.
Just wait for the playoffs.
