K-Mart says Nets trading him was like Sox trading Babe Ruth.

As though 12 points and 5 boards is worth max money?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=251216017
When asked by reporters about the Nets' struggles at the power forward position, Martin replied, "They had one. That's the bed they made and they have to lie in it. Strange things happen in sports, like the Red Sox getting rid of Babe Ruth."

As much as I was against it when it happened, it was the right move. The guy just isn't worth his salary and has peaked in his carer.

hell ya, 12 points 5 boards while missing half of his games!
But then, he is really tough, him, jefferson and kidd running the floor, pulling boards in traffic, other than those 3, their team can't really rebound or play defence back then..
martin is the best thing next to an all-star/superstar PF
His production doesn't show it, if they got shareef, they woulda been too soft still..

The comparison's obviously off, but I don't like the trade either. K-Mart fit the Nets style perfectly with J-Kidd and RJ.

If I was the GM, I'd trade VC to Denver for K-Mart in a second. But I'd try to get the most out of it too, so it wouldn't be straight up.

Matt says K-Mart is smocking crack!!!!

K-Mart was only good because Nets ran and ran hard, and he was a pretty good defender. In Denver he's exposed for having no offense.

Self-confidence is important and everyone has the right to an ego but if you're going to be that brash...well, you better back it up. Kenyon Martin's post-New Jersey career doesn't back it up. Now I'm not an expert on baseball as I don't much care for it but I'm still aware of Babe Ruth's importance to the sport and the legend surrounding the trade to the Yankees. To even suggest the two trades were anything alike in terms of importance is ridiculous, at least until he starts earning that big deal.

I have to admit, I too thought New Jersey shot themselves in the foot when they dealt him for little in return. But to their credit they've adapted to the situation and avoided overpaying him.

K-Mart was a free agent and jumped to Denver because they offered him max. I haven't heard a peep from K-Mart about requesting a trade.

It was actually a sign-and-trade to Denver with draft picks coming the other way.

Babe Ruth might have been fat and slow, but at least he didn't have a knee that never recovers from injury...
