Yeah, 'cause that'll happen in his 7th year in the league... Steve Francis is what he is and isn't changing anytime soon.

I've seen both Kwame and Dwight play when they were in high school, and it's no comparison... Dwight was and is better, by a lot. Kwame had all the measurables to be a star in the NBA (still could be), but you could tell even dating back to his days in HS that he needed lots of work before entering the league, and that he always seemed to have a lack of passion when you watched him play. Remember, Tyson Chandler and Eddy Curry were considered the top players in the 2001 class, and Kwame only moved ahead of them in the draft because of his workouts.
With Dwight, there was no dispute. Almost all tagged him as the undisputed best player in his class, although a few people here and there liked Al Jefferson better. When you saw Dwight play, you could tell he loved the game of basketball, and with his physical and athletic ability, along with his upbringing, that he could, and more than likely would, succeed immediately in the league. The only thing going to college would of done is helped him further develop his skill set, something that he is still working on, but that was far better than what Kwame had when he entered the league.
As for Kwame being more physically gifted, that's highly debateable. When Dwight worked out at the combine, he had a better quickness test than most guards, and, as you can see in that picture, his vertical is flat out awesome. He also projects, at worst, to grow to 7 feet (he's 6'11 right now), with doctors saying he could grow as tall as 7'1. Dwight's arms are also longer than Kwame's.
Anywho, that's my two cents on the subject. I hope Kwame gets his crap together, because he's a great kid who simply came into a bad situation in Washington and wasn't nearly as prepared for the league as Dwight. If anyone can turn Kwame around, it's Phil Jackson.

Dwight last year was better than Amare on the glass and defensively, and also better than Amare was defensively at PF in his first 2 years. That's pretty good for an 18 year old big coming out of high school. Dwight also seems to have more of a post game, but Amare showed he has one, it's just easier for him to face up and unk on you.
As soon as Orlando can get rid of Francis, or at least get Dwight the ball more, he will become very good statistically. Last year towards the end of the season he was averaging something like 17-11 and 2 BPG, those are pretty killer numbers for a guy his age, and even his 11-10, 1.7 BPG for the season was done in only 32-33 MPG.
This season you can expect something like 15-16 PPG, 10-11 RPG, and in the 2 BPG range. I don't really see Howard as being the same type of scorer Amare is in terms of volume, but I can see him being a better overall player, and depending on how Amare's defense moves along, he's already the better defender and rebounder. In a few years, probably something like 23-25 PPG, 12-13 RPG, 3-4 APG, 2+ BPG, which is impressive indeed. If he plays with a PG who can run a nice 2 man game with him, or in a nice offensive system, then yes, I can see him going to that higher 20 PPG range.

thats what i thought too
anywayz.. i think dhoward will be similar to david robinson... hes a big rebounder, shot blocker, hes wide and big.. quick and athletic.. he doesn't seem like he'll ever be as an explosive scorer as amare.. and i disagree with what sum1 pointed out that Howard has a better shot than Amare.. Amare is decent up to like 16-17 feet..
Howard.. i predict 14ppg/11rpg/2bpg... he isn't going to take many shots.. just tons of open dunks, in traffic dunks, rebound put backs...
Expect maybe 22/14/4bpg maybe when hes like 22-23yrs old

4bpg
Woa, I like that prediction, that's a mighty amount of blocks...

I would say 21 points, 20 rebounds is fairly monstrous. Welcome Dwight

Dwight Howard is a monster and as soon as Orlando recovers from the brief but damaging Weisbrod era, they'll get on track quickly with his help.
Sat Nov 26, 2005 11:31 am
I can't wait to see what kind of numbers he will put up in his first year without Steve Francis.
