I've wondered, who's better, Gilbert Arenas or Baron Davis. Vote.
P.S---Do you guys like Arenas?
Wed Nov 16, 2005 8:46 am
Arenas. He hasn't been known to be an injury prone player plus he's younger.
Wed Nov 16, 2005 8:49 am
Gilbert Arenas is a top 5 point guard in the league, Baron Davis is not. It's as simple as that.

Yea I say Arenas easily, Davis is a good player, but hes quite now, he hasnt shown us how good he really is ever since he came back from his back injury. Arenas, like its asdf said Arenas is younger and isnt injury prone.

Is this a joke? Baron has never put up the type of numbers that Gilbert has been putting up the last two seasons.
Wed Nov 16, 2005 11:45 am
yea thats true. I know its only a few games into the season, but Arenas needs to bring up his RPG its like 2.8
Wed Nov 16, 2005 12:02 pm
True, i'm a big Arenas fan aswell. I think he'll average, 25.0, 7.9 assissts, and about 4.5 boards?
Wed Nov 16, 2005 12:23 pm
you can't really make a comparison with Davis because he's out injured all the time. Before his injuries though he'd be a triple dbl threat every night and played good D.

Hes having an off game tonight. Thank god hes a playmaker too. Heres his stats so far tonight against the Cavs with 4:30 left in the 4th:
33:28 4-17 2-8 8-11 1 4 5 8 2 3 6 0 18
He had a quick 9 points cuz like 3 minutes ago he had just 9 points. The thing about Arenas is, if he cant score, he can get to the line or rack up assists.

too bad they got their asses kicked though. I wonder if he'll ever move to SG.
Wed Nov 16, 2005 12:42 pm
Maybe, he basically plays both. If they get a true Point Guard then yea, obviously he will be a SG.
Anyone else notice, Arenas shoots kinda shitt when he gets a decent amout of rebounds in a game. Like when he got his 32, and 43 he had I think 0 rebounds in both games. Tonight, and the other night like 3 games ago he had like 6 rebounds.

Why would he go to SG? He looks pretty damn effective at PG and the team won last year with him at PG. He wouldn't be as effective at SG.

Ever since Wade hit that shot on Davis, Davis has not been the same. I say Arenas, cause Davis keep getting injuried and always jacking up so many 3s
Wed Nov 16, 2005 12:57 pm
arenas. scary thing is though he'll just get better
Wed Nov 16, 2005 1:01 pm
Baron Davis career averages:
15.6ppg, 6.8apg, 3.8rpg, 40% FG, 32% PT, 67% FT
Gilbert Arenas career averages:
19.6ppg, 5.2apg, 4.3rpg, 43% FG, 37% 3PT, 79% FT
Both are winners but I'd take Gilbert because he is going to continue to improve and I think he has a better work ethic. The way he proved himself after being selected so low (2nd round) was impressive.

I'd have to say Arenas.. I remember several years back he was one of the most underrated players in the league.. harly anyone knew him.. yet he was puttin up pretty good numbers.. right now he has the upper hand.. davis hasn't been the same since his knee problems..
Wed Nov 16, 2005 2:34 pm
injuries and playing in noh/charlotte have lowered his perceived "value" but baron davis is probably the most talented PG in the league
though i do like arenas occasional eccentricity
Wed Nov 16, 2005 2:58 pm
injuries are a part of the game.
Wed Nov 16, 2005 9:55 pm
i like baron's skillset better, but arenas does more with what he has. if i wanted to turn a team around i'd take davis if i knew he wouldnt get injured. realistically though, that can't be promised, so realistically i'd pick arenas as he is safer and younger. the thing is i feel baron is the type of player who can carry a team, and that arenas puts up nice numbers but really shouldnt be carrying a team even though he can, does that make sense?
Wed Nov 16, 2005 10:15 pm
Arenas can be a contending teams' leading scorer, but he can't be their lead player, plus he needs to be put into a very specific offence for him to be effective. Jordan is doing a great job with him running that Harvard O or whatever is it called (basically a version of triangle offence) and by doing that, that team doesn't need a 'true' PG and he'll never become one if not seriously pushed. Best case scenario for him is a slightly taller, much quicker version of Chauncey Billups with better scoring but worse playmaking abilities. Which is quite allright, I guess.

If it wasn't for Baron's injuries, he'd be better, hands down, but for now, I give the nod to Arenas.
That being said, they're both on my fantasy team
Thu Nov 17, 2005 12:23 am
Yup.. before Baron was injured, he was one of the top fantasy performers- I believe he was ranked #1 overall and on his way to an MVP-type season, but boom.. went down after like 30 games.
Arenas is better now.
