2006-07 1st Round Draft Predictions

Tue Nov 15, 2005 7:38 am

I know it's a bit too early, but frm what I am seeing, it seems like Toronto might get the 1st overall pick if they continue to play like they are right now. If I was Babcock, and had the 1st overall pick, I'd go with J.J Redick, #4 SG from Duke, that guy has mad shots and shoots like .90 from the charity stripe and like .50 from the 3-point line, and he shoots NBA threes, he shoots from way back like the players do in the NBA.

I know this thread isnt about Toronto, so feel free to make predictions.

Tue Nov 15, 2005 7:47 am

Wow, this is stupid..
First of all - yes waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early, Toronto can still win 50 games, etc. It won't happen but it's just stupid to make a thread about it at this time.
Second, Redick isn't even close to #1 material.

Tue Nov 15, 2005 8:12 am

But they got Charlie with the 7th pick , so what goes to say Babock won't choose Redick with the first pick. Anyways , Rudy Gay is the shit , I love him . Maybe not good for Toronto , but for a team that lacks a SF it would be perfect . And it is WAY too early to see . The raptors are ba right now , but they can still make the playoffs.

Tue Nov 15, 2005 8:23 am

But do you really think they have much of a chance to make it to the playoffs.

Tue Nov 15, 2005 8:30 am

I doubt they will , but they do have a chance too.

Tue Nov 15, 2005 8:43 am

this is quite possible the worst topic ever

2nd to mine about smush of course...

Tue Nov 15, 2005 9:11 am

I doubt JJ Redick is a first rounder, let alone the first pick.

Tue Nov 15, 2005 9:33 am

If Toronto chose Redick with first pick, then it would be worse than the Villanueva pick. I mean...Redick with first pick? CMON!

http://www.nbadraft.net/

You have Rudy Gay, LaMarcus Aldridge and Daniel Gibson and you would chose J.J. Redick? That would be a horrible decision if the Raptors ever did that.

Tue Nov 15, 2005 10:31 am

Man what kinda Raptor fan are you ? You have no hope for your own team.'

JJ Redick ?!? What kinda pick iz that ?

Tue Nov 15, 2005 11:11 am

The #1 pick has nothing to do with how bad they play. Just ask the Bucks, they were 41-41 and got #1. It's highly random to discourage teams from throwing games to get the #1 pick.

Um... the Bucks were 30-52... not quite sure what you're talking about.

Another thing, the team with the worst record has the best chance of winning the lottery, how did your logic make any sense in your head?

Another thing, how do you live in two places on different sides of the U.S? And if you are telling us where you used to live, why the fuck do we care?

And another thing, what the hell kind of name is maes? Another thing, why the hell did you bang my mom?

Tue Nov 15, 2005 11:43 am

You can have an apartment in two places if you commute for business sometimes, i did used to live in both places depending on work...i'm not sure why we're talking about my work life, it's irrelevant to the topic.

Another thing, the team with the worst record has the best chance of winning the lottery, how did your logic make any sense in your head?

I'll explain in small words:
- There is a 75% chance that the worst team does NOT get the #1 pick.
- 75% = Not Likely To Happen
- "best" chance is only a +5% chance over the next team, is that worth throwing away a season for your fans?

I'm sure you know how many worst teams actually got the #1 pick and how rarely it actually happens.

Tue Nov 15, 2005 11:50 am

It happened 2 drafts ago with the Magic . I've been watching the NBA for 2-3 years now , so I don't know how many times it happened . And I don't think teams throw away seasons on purpose . Only an ignorant , stupid ass person would make their team throw away the season.

You still haven't addressed the problem of having sex with my mother...

Correct, there is a good chance the team with the worst record doesn't get the number one pick, but its still a better chance then the team with the second best record, and you said that having the worst record means nothing, which is an incorrect statement.

Tue Nov 15, 2005 11:09 pm

Reddick would have been an early 2nd Rounder in this past year's draft....as for 2006 Draft, he's a bubble 1st Rounder....I think his talent says early-to-mid 2nd Rounder but I believe his shooting ability, combined with the new age limit, will mean that he will move into the 1st Round and be drafted in the 20-30 range....let's just hope he sticks for a little bit longer than Trajan Langdon

Tue Nov 15, 2005 11:31 pm

1. 250 combinations 25% chance of receiving the #1 pick

2. 199 combinations 19.9% chance

3. 156 combinations 15.6% chance

4. 119 combinations 11.9% chance

5. 88 combinations 8.8% chance

6. 63 combinations 6.3% chance

7. 43 combinations 4.3% chance

8. 28 combinations 2.8% chance

9. 17 combinations 1.7% chance

10. 11 combinations 1.1% chance

11. 8 combinations 0.8% chance

12. 7 combinations 0.7% chance

13. 6 combinations 0.6% chance

14. 5 combinations 0.5% chance

These are the percentages, so in other words, the worst team still has a relatively high percentage of winning the number 1 pick. So if you think 75% not getting first round pick is high, do the same for the other teams! (durrr.....)

JJ Reddick is at best a late first rounder, taking him at the first overall pick would be one of the worst picks in history. A 6-4 SG thats just pretty much a shooter and thats about all, I doubt he'd help change franchises specially a team like the Raptors.

The Raptors should go with Josh McRoberts or LaMarcus Aldridge if they have the first overall this season. Really too early to start predicting picks on a serious scale cause nobody knows who'll declare and who won't.

But Id say Rudy Gay is favourite for the first overall, even if the Raptors are picking at first they'll probably end up drafting him anyway because of his ability.

Good pick, if he continues to develop at Duke he will probably become a nice NBA player. He has heaps of potential, he's kind of like the white KG IMO (yeah 'white' means he's a very poor.. no broke-man's KG  ). Very athletic, good basketball brain and good fundamentals.

I doubt it, Babcock is the type of guy that drafts mostly based on need. He drafted Charlie because he thought he was the best rebounder available at that time with the most talent.

Also, we have Joey Graham/Rose/Peterson alternating at small foward, so I think we're most likely to go with the best big man available.

Babcock is known for making unpredictable (sometimes bad) picks anyway.

Rudy Gay to Toronto???? nooootttttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they already have Chris Bosh! please angels dont let it happened!

HAHA.

I think Bargnani deserves three stars. To me he will be like a Tskitishvili player, over hyped and compared to Nowitzki.
